As a Lifelong Detroit Lions fan it's very reassuring to hear one of my favorite NFL analysts make such a positive statement. As boring and redundant as it sounds, it starts at the top. Again, when Sheila Ford-Hamp took over and hired Chris Speilman, GM Brad Holmes and HC Dan Campbell it has been upward mobility. Even Breer agrees that the mega signing of The Lions "core" this offseason. QB Jared Goff has truly found happiness and just as importantly found a home in Motown. This young man QBd a team ,LA Rams , to a Super Bowl at a very young age, and after some differences, traded to one of the worse teams in The NFL. Goff, and of course his talents, but his hard work and allowing himself to be "coached" are a huge part of The Lions success. OT Penei Sewell, if he stays healthy, could end up being one of the greatest OTs ever. WR Amon Ra St Brown brings a grit and work ethic that "sets the pace". I'm looking for RB Jamyr Gibbs to be a "star" this season. I have never been excited for an upcoming NFL season.

As a lifelong packers fan, it’s cool to see Detroit come up. Our division is gonna be a dog fight for years. Chicago is better and Minnesota has a good team too. If JJ Macarthy is even just average, Minnesota has a really good defense and weapons all over on offense.

“More Favre than Aaron” - give me a break. Despite his throwaways, Rodgers made tons of gutsy throws. Keyword being gutsy. Favre was reckless (sometimes in a good way). All seriousness though, Love is the product of 30+ years of stellar QB play from 2 QBs being wound up into a young player. And Love’s successor will have the knowledge of 3 HOF QBs implanted into his brain. And so the saga will continue

They were best in division last year and have improved their roster since then. They are the team to beat. I think people also need to see more from Jordan Love to prove this is who he is, and it wasn't just half of a season. But I agree, Packers will be in contention. I don't think the Bears are going to be quite ready, although in a couple years they could be terrifying. Vikings are probably even further behind cus Darnold ain't the guy, and McCarthy probably needs a year or two.

@NicholsMarn Yes, and if every year the same teams made the playoffs and teams only get incremental and never got worse. You might have a point. Since that's not the case you have to ask yourself what is the Packers realistic ceiling and their floor. To me I think their floor is missing the playoffs with a positive record and their ceiling is NFC championship game. The Lions floor is an early playoff loss and I their ceiling is the Superbowl. I think Love played good down the strech but I want to see to be a true believer. Interested to see Josh Jacobs in their system.
