Ha ha, love the banter, pleased Ian has been let off the hook. It must've been worth every penny of the tenner he paid me to say that! Keep up the good work, love the videos!!

I agree with the previous comment. I wouldn't clear coat it. Clear coating is a modern technique created to prevent the metal flakes in modern paint from oxidizing. In the day the car was built there was no such thing. Paint was single stage, and protected with a coat of wax. I'd do it the same way. In fact I am doing it the same way with the 1966 Volvo Amazon I'm restoring.

Wow a volvo amazon that's awesome 👌 now that two of you have said this I'm definitely now thinking of leaving it out I did wonder if it was even worth bothering with and its only more work anyway thanks so much for the comment hope your restoration is going well many thanks kris

Don’t clear coat it just another good compound then wax it it’ll still look fantastic, you are running the risk of reaction with with the compound any tiny bit you might miss could spoil it.

I can't tell you exactly what _basecoat_ is made of but it's only for use under clear. If you have a solid colour you should use single-stage 2K (dangerous) or a 1K 'cellulose' product which is probably acrylic lacquer. I think _basecoat_ may also be 1K acrylic but have heard it's not as robust and also dries matte

More good progress 👌 but a word of caution I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to clear coat it because you are polishing the colour coat first clear coat is very sensitive and reactive to polish and silicone even if uv just got a bottle off car polish in your garage it could affect it and your compressor is just too small you need a decent supply of clean air and a reasonably good spray gun with a 1.3 set up so a few things to mull over but good luck anyway mate👍

So helpful I had wondered if it was even worth putting clear coat on but that's two comments saying the same thing so I may well leave the clear coat of lol 😆 suppose it's just creating more work anyways many thanks for the comment kris
