I recently added this End-fed OCF antenna to my shack as an alternative to my 49:1 End-fed sloper. I have found it to work very well after trimming/tuning the open wire part of the antenna to get the best SWR on all bands it is designed for. I first tried to tune the choke portion of the antenna but this didn't really help - I returned it to the recommended 12' location on the coax. Mine is hanging at about 30' as an "L" shape with very good results. I do use an external autotuner which is needed on the WARC bands as they are a bit over 3-1 SWR and outside of the IC-7300 tuning range. Out of the box the sweet spot of the antenna was toward the lower end of all the bands so I ended up folding back and wrapping about 2' of wire to bring it to the middle of all bands. After using and comparing this antenna with my End-fed I would highly recommend this as a first antenna for HF. Jim KC3RFG 73

I have not tried tuning the antenna length. I may try this sometime in the future.....Thanks for watching.

I have had mine for about 4 years. It has been 155' lazy L, 160' sloper fed at the top and grounded to a 35' tower, and finally is a kind of slanting/sloping lazy L that is about 218' of wire. It acts like a long wire antenna on the high bands and works DX fairly well on SSB. Not a bad antenna system for multiband use. 73

Unfortunately I have been wrapped up in other things for a while. I expect to do more videos regularly.

Thank you for this review. I was waiting to try the P.E. Off-Center fed dipole - after this review, I am going to “pull the trigger” on that purchase. Can’t wait to try it. KQ4IXD
