Really pleased you’re persevering with this one. I’ve always been basically a Beta fan but, of the VHS camp, I’ve favoured Panasonic, as they usually seem to get the best quality out of the inferior format & this machine is so delightfully elaborate. The video is another perfect length one, for me. Thanks for sharing all the successes & frustrations. Rob.

You superstar! And David is a hero too. I've not clicked on a video so quickly in a long time. The finale! Thank you.

A very fascinating VCR and repairjob too! :) The "dimple" on the lower videoheaddrum is normal and should improve picture stability. I saw this on late highend G2-decks too. But it seemed to be more a fashion gag and Panasonic itself came off of this "dimple". In K-mech's and later decks this dimple was removed. :) To the missalignement: On the exitguide (the guide right to the videoheaddrum) there is a black screw and with this the angle of the exitguide can be changed so that the headwrap can be expanded or reduced. This affects the alignement. Unfortunatelly this is not described in any service manual of Panasonic's VCR's although nearly all types of Panasonic mech's have this black screw! I am looking forward to seeing part 5! :)

Both of my NV-FS200s have that dimple on the lower drum. I too thought it was damaged until I looked at my scrap unit and noticed the same thing. I think the black screw you are referring to adjusts the position of the V-stopper (the part the tape guide rests against). You normally never adjust this unless you are absolutely sure it needs adjustment. :)

Great video and its hard work trying to chat to camera and repair a video.. I was shouting out to you when you were installing the second loading deck to check the timing and clean the mode switch..Also your picture at the end looks like head tenison problem or tape path has been screwed with..I'd have cleaned the tape path first..You could do with a dummy VHS tape tester..Loved the video and how much patience you have ..Can't wait for part 5 ..I should have been out gardening but could not switch you off ,Thanks again brings back loads of memories watching your video's i am wating for a video on repairing a Phillips charlie deck.....
