The tribal warrior mentality is strong all over PNG. It's a heritage of the ancient ways. Rugby league provides a channel to direct the natural aggression of the people. It's a sport that's seemingly tailor made for PNG's people who like to be aggressive but without malice. It's part of their nature. Rugby league and PNGeans were made for each other.

Kohu Dai who was interviewed in this story is not just a "rugby league fan", he is also a PNG International in the sport of Cricket, one of the most successful sport in the country, even more successful than Rugby League. His father, Lohia Dai was a Kumul and his younger brother, Mahuru Dai holds the record (or formerly) for the fastest 50 runs in a one Day International. Good story. Well done.

We may be broke but we do not starve , we have ploughed our land for thousands of years our ancestors have been subsistance farmers and proud fishermen. We dont wait for the govt to feed us . Come to PNG and see for yourself..
