A great evening flying with Todd! This was the last evening of the unusually warm weather we were having. At launch, it was 82 degrees on the ground, so I was determined to set a new altitude record. And I did! 6253ft AGL! I was actually only aiming to join the Paramotor Mile High Club, but ended up going almost 1,000ft higher than that!
I stayed on full throttle for over 36 minutes after launching. I let off my throttle at 36:49, then drifted down slowly and silently, and didn't hit my throttle again until 54:16.
Now how about that launch?! When I saw what direction the wind was taking me to launch, I decided that if I wasn't off the ground by the time I reached the Tarmac, I would abort the launch. But I was off the ground just before the tarmac, and I trusted my gear and my experience. I saw the path I needed to take to avoid flying directly over the spectators and not run into anything. I'm sure I gave a great view to the guy in the truck whos hood I flew over. I trusted things would be okay, and it was okay. Would I do that again though, probably not...next time I'd probably abort and move a bit further from the building. And I'm not one of those "but what if" types of people. If I was, I wouldn't even be flying.
And once again, I hit my landing! Woo Hoo!
