Even for me watching this comparing to primary school during my time (2005-2010) have changed quite a bit! Would be good to have an option bring my parent to school day hahaha. sweatycheesesticks I’m Singaporean chinese but I can pronounce the words tuition (tu-ee-tion) vegetable (vej-tuh-ble) and Wednesday (wends-day)correctly? And I didn’t learn that from school. People most commonly mispronounce these words. It has nothing to do with accents.
@user-gj1lg2jm6u
4 жыл бұрын
Jane Doe ok but ur ability to pronounce these word doesn’t make it so that the whole of Singapore can pronounce it. An example is like my own mom she speaks more then 4 fluent languages including English but she still pronounces cucumber wrongly. It isn’t because she was taught wrongly but because she has a natural accent that forces her to automatically pronounce it cu-cu-m-ber and not cu-cum-ber. Almost my whole schools first language is Chinese and they can’t pronounce certain words, most of them also know Bahasa, Hindi, Tamil etc but I as a person who grew up in a very English language based family doesn’t have a issue with it. This is because I don’t have a accent like most Singaporean and also Malaysian people do. Just because you can pronounce words without an accent interfering doesn’t mean others can. Pls be open- minded even ppl from Ireland and Scotland have a heavy accent that tampers with the way they say words but it doesn’t mean that it’s the up bringing in school that made it a problem. It’s natural

I still remember mugging up power point functions for my CS exams back in Indian High School. I didn't choose Computer Science for my 11th and 12th. But I had CS classes from 6th-10th. Our school had a computer lab and all resources but we were barred from using it(I still don't know why). The CS teacher comes to your class, uses the TV and teaches you power point and sends you the handouts in WhatsApp for you to read. I never got a chance to actually open ppt and work on it.. And obviously, I had to learn how to use it through YT as 11th and 12th has a lot of presentation assignments..
