There will never again be people like Milligan and Secombe. I grew up watching them and they were just magic.

My sister worked in the hotel industry a while ago. Sir Harry Secombe (also known as Sir Cumference) was staying at the hotel where she worked, and she said he was a wonderful kindly man. He sang for the love of it and indeed sang at the bar for several nights running into the early hours of the morning. Unpaid, just for fun.

Love how Milligan took his humour to the grave. His epitaph translates from Irish Gaelic to read, 'I told you I was ill'.

Sir Harry Secombe is right up there with excellent tenors. Listen to his Nessun Dorma.

Yesterday I had to go into hospital for a colonoscopy. I had wonderful professional service and apart for the Medicare levy that I paid as part of yearly income tax, I was not charged one red cent. That was in large part due to the vision of Gough Whitlam. Medibank transformed into Medicare and has been a life saver over decades for millions of Australians.

Yeh well you’re very much in the minority, as the huge newspaper coverage after his death shows. He was the best ever.

They can't make TV like this today, there is simply not the talent. Basile Faulty may return to our screens if John Cleese plans eventuate, still laughing at the thought the Germans wanted to their version of Faulty Towers.
