Good to see that you have managed to on with some work Johnny and even better to see the mighty Fendt. No one around here has been able to do a thing as the ground is just too wet (heavy clay - north Leicestershire) apart from a bit of ploughing while the ground was frosted. Top video bud.

Thanks Kenneth! It was very short lived, we had two dry days, the land was still very wet, but we are so far behind now we’re taking every chance we get to actually get something done. I’ve got 3000acres of spring drilling to do and haven’t put one single seed in the ground yet, this time last year I was just about finishing the last few 100acres.

Hi Jonny great video and channel👍 Excuse me for asking, but why do you need a sprayer as I thought it was an organic farm? keep up the good work.
@Jonny1388
6 жыл бұрын
That’s fine I don’t mind you asking! All organic farms still have a crop sprayer, but the difference is what we spray. We’re only allowed to use organically certified natural compounds. If i could explain it in a round about way, I would say it’s like Chinese herbal medicine if that makes sense?

Was gonna ask about the sprayer but someone else beat me to it and now I know 👍🏼 Them disc's got any sort of wheel track eradicators on them? We ended up putting slightly bigger disc's on our Joker in line with where our tracks run so they bite a bit deeper and fetch out wheelings, seems to have done the trick. Time for a cup of tea and watching part 2 - hope you are well mate
@Jonny1388
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy!! Yes, it certainly makes people think, “hang on, why have they got a sprayer” lol Our spray man is one of the busiest blokes on the farm, we actually have a higher number of applications per field than a conventional farmer would. It’s all naturally derived products. We even spray ‘soap’ to try to stop the aphids from being able to stick to the brassicas, it’s ment to make them fall off the plant. It could do with wheel track eradicators to be honest, but because we plough everything it doesn’t really make any difference. Because your CTF I can imagine they are worth it, or at least a clever idea about the bigger discs is! Which is a bloody good idea by the way!!

@Jonny1388
6 жыл бұрын
It’s fine, I was expecting the question! Lol organic farms still have crop sprayers because we still have to spray our crops to control diseases etc the difference is we can only use organically certified natural compounds, and have zero forms of chemical weed killers. It’s rather like Chinese herbal medicine if I had to compare it to something.

Hello Jonny, I am from the States and just bought 4,000 acres. I have some farmers tell me to never buy a tractor, only rent it (I can rent a Fendt 1050 here for $65/hour). They tell me that it’s just not worth all the hassle in the eventual maintenance, etc. And then I see this lovely beast in action and it’s like, good hells bells, I’d take that on a date, movies, dinner, everything:) I understand there is a service warranty and everything when buying it new, but I’m wondering if paying $350,000-$400,000 is worth the inevitable problem and headache of dealing with a machine with so many moving parts. How long has the owner had it? How many hours does it have on it, and how many problems have you seen it have? Thanks very much for any insight and I enjoy your videos. Thanks for all the instruction.

Hi David! We haven’t had any issues with it yet, it’s been completely trouble free. We haven’t had it very long, it’s only done 600hrs so far, so it’s a bit to early to tell. But as a rule fendt are very well made reliable tractors! Fuel efficiency is fantastic for a tractor with 517hp. I know a lot of large farms in the uk lease their tractors, it’s a fixed cost each month and all breakdowns and servicing is included and taken care of by the dealer. I suppose it’s just weather you can afford to buy the tractor in the first place and have the acreage to warrant having one, because with it being so expensive to buy it needs to be working hard and getting plenty of hours in Thanks David

Jonny 1388 I have another question Jonny...I know you’re busy so respond when you can. In your opinion what is the best all-around tractor to have? One that has enough hp to field prep, like a cultivator for tilling and soil prep; harrowing; pulling a fert implement; drill seeder and hay mowers? You’re prolly gonna say the Fendt 1050 or that Puma you are often talking about :). Can I do all that with a 300 hp tractor? Thanks again!
@aussiefendt1796
6 жыл бұрын
David Lamb field prep is going to take more hp than mowing buy far... if your looking around the 300hp mark look at the Fendt 828 of you like the 8's or 930 if your looking for a bigger bodied tractor. Fendts usually don't get many problems and in my opinion the most comfortable to operate. Hope you find the right tractor to buy or lease. Maybe go drive a few brands and see what you like as everyone likes different things?
@davidlamb6342

aussiefendt thanks for your response! I’m leaning toward the Fendt 1050 but Agco’s closest dealer to me (whether I want to buy or rent) is either in Colorado or in Yuma, AZ. Therefore, maintenance and/or upkeep is an issue that I will have to deal with. So I may go with a Fendt 1050 and then have a JD or MF as a backup (since those guys are everywhere here). What is your favorite and most reliable?
