If you click "SHOW MORE" in the description above your be able to see Links to the Tools 🔧🔨🔧 I use. Also Clickable Chapters📋 📙 throughout the video and other Links 🎬 that may be of interest. I've had a few viewers request where they can buy the tools they see in some of my videos but it's not very clear that the "SHOW MORE" tab has a lot of information in that may be of interest. Admittedly the amazon links are associated with me and I would earn a small commission which helps towards keeping the channel funded.

I’ve commented on others videos of yours as I’m currently rebuilding the front end of my 58 plate r55 diesel after months of extensive work. Cant tell you enough how much your videos have helped me identify which bolts/clips goes back where. Again thank you 🙏

I have a Mazda 3 with the same engine and your videos are helping me a lot to repair it. It is strange that your videos have so few views because they are of great quality, I think you should add the title of the videos of this Mini the PSA engine code (DV6) and many people would find your videos. Greetings from Spain

Thank you for such a compliment. I have tagged and titled all my videos with every permutation lol but sadly the views are very slow to grow. I think it's because the 'entertainment factor' is low that KZitem doesn't push my channel much and I don't have a seductive female on my thumbnails. I have considered wearing a bikini but I doub't it will help much lol

The corrosion on your Mini does seem to be really bad. I had a R56 Mini last year and it was similar with corrosion on the sub frame. It was so bad it failed it's MOT with it previous owner, and she had it replaced with a second hand unit. I Had the invoice in the service history and I seem to remember it was £600 with the parts and labor. Keep up the good work and lets hope the engine is not to badly damaged.

Thank you Neil for the info. That's my fear now is a new subframe. I see some on ebay that look pretty sound for £200 but I'm hoping this one is ok. I will check it over before risking an MOT fee.

That's very kind of you to say Assem. I was hoping it may have done a bit better in views by now as I've been making videos for 3 years now and the subscriber count does seem a little low for 3 years and 148 videos made. Not sure if the KZitem algorithm is avoiding me or if my videos are just terrible lol. Has to be one or the other. I find it strange though as I picked up 26,000 followers on Instagram in only 4 months. Wish KZitem had followed that same luck.

Your facial expression at 2:20 Mark...Yes, that one does seem to have rusted heavily - I think someone commented in the last vid that it might had been driven into the sea...(yes, i know you say that- but Ive no comparison to make- Gen 1 or Gen * My one is R50 2001...)

I keep messing up my last couple of sentences now. I'm going to have to write what I mean on a whiteboard to stop me getting tongue tied each time. The thing is it takes me a fair few attempts to say my intro without making a mistake and then I mess up on the last sentence saying thank you for watching. At that point I know it's too late to redo hence the facial expression Patrick. I've never seen such a new car so rusty.

Hi great informative video as usual. I think the SC registration means it was originally registered in Scotland, plenty of snow and salt up there! I agree the R50 seems much better quality wise.

Thank you Rusty Rover, never realised the number plates had location digits. I'm so out of touch lol. So SC means Scotland does it? I bought in South Wales but like you say Scotland would use plenty of grit in their winters.

Could you do a video about a back story behind what you do? You seem to work on a lot of minis. I’m curious to know if you buy the cars to fix and sell on. I have a mini 2004. It’s still pretty much corrosion free on the body. It’s only the usual mechanical parts that are corroded. My subframe is in far better condition than this. I’m also interested to know if other R56 models suffer the same

Thank you for the comment Cooper 2004. My story would be very short so I can tell you right now lol. My plan was to buy non running cars for under £500 and repair them while making KZitem videos with the hope I would help others and also earn a very basic salary from KZitem and then hopefully have a car that was all working and checked over to drive for a bit and then sell. It's not quite gone to plan quite as I hoped but I do achieve making videos on cars that sometimes come good if the issue wasn't too major. I had a lovely Peugeot 207cc cabriolet that I thought would return me £1,500 after buying for £400 but after getting it running it went into self destruct just before taking it for an MOT. So financially it's not all going to plan very well. I can't offer much advice on the R56 as this is the first second generation I have owned and also the newest car I have ever owned. Hopefully the condition of my car is just rotten luck on this particular one.

@@CoatsandGaiters They have certainly helped me work on my car so thank you. Fixing up non runners would defiantly make great content, not only do we learn how to work on cars, we also learn investigation skills to diagnose issues. I’m following this series as I’m curious to know what the problem is.

@@petea7323 That's really kind of you to say so. I'm just as curious as you to know what's wrong. I just hope it's repairable and that's it just an oil blockage somewhere causing oil starvation. The car may not be sailable but if it runs it would be fine for my use.

@@pauloneill8912 oh your a mechanic lol so you have to deal with this everyday and resolve under pressure. Hats off to you. I’ve just had a right game getting no 1 injector out of this engine. The injector pulled the outer tube with it as it was tarred together.

@@CoatsandGaiters yes been there you can buy replacement tubes, knock back in with hammer and piece of wood. I only try and remove injectors on these engines when hot, plus gas is your friend here also, loosens up the carbon
@CoatsandGaiters

@@pauloneill8912 That makes a lot of sense. I had to resort to a hot gun to heat the tube to get the tar to melt to get it off. I'm drowning in tar in this weeks video. First time I worked on a diesel and my it's a messy job. The garage told the previous owner it needed a new engine but it's possibly looking like the tensioner for the chain has shattered and that might be the only problem. If that's the case any ideas why they would say it needed a new engine.

Was the car ever registered near the sea ?
@CoatsandGaiters
2 жыл бұрын
Registered IN THE SEA did you mean lol..... Joking aside not that I'm aware off. It could just be road salt I guess from Wales but the metals seem so much thinner than the 1st generation. I just hope the subframe hasn't been perforated. I can weld it but i'd rather not as it would mean it's weak anyway.
