As a born and bred Southern Californian, I went to Sizzler often with my family. Yes, Meatball Tacos from the taco bar. This is why Anthony Bourdain touch so many lives: he never looked down on a restaurant that may be common. He ate at Sizzler and enjoyed it. I will miss his voice.

I'm a Korean American who was poor for much of his life (my family is doing very well now but my parents came here with $300 lol). We are now considered upperclass but we still have that desperate immigrant, lower-class mentality: we never buy nice things, we never buy expensive things unless we absolutely have to, when we eat out...we eat at fast-food restaurants and places like sizzler and TGI Friday is a major stepup that I personally haven't had for like months and I love those places. Funny thing is...my parents, especially, are millionaires but they always say you won't be a millionaire if you get cocky and forget about your roots. My dad says the most important thing in a person is their work ethics. He fucking loves honest illegal Mexican immigrants that are desperate and hard working and hate a lot of the flashy Koreans that are willing to be on huge debt to showoff good cars and houses lol.

Sizzler is definitely a food experience that resonates with a lot of children of immigrants to America. In the early 2000s, I dated a woman who was a child when her parents came to America from war-torn Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation, and she absolutely LOVED Sizzler. She had fond memories of family dinners from the Sizzler buffet, and she also did the "meatball taco."
