Hi mami i have been making this Kothavarangai parippu usli for the last 45 years taught by my mother. Now the paruppu with the same spices i grind coarsely with little water and then mix the finely chopped beans with ground paste in idli plates and steam it. Break the idlis and saute it with little oil and roast it . Tastes nice.

Hello Mami. Thanks for the recipe. Although I agree that this is a healthy way to make paruppu usili with minimal oil, I would also like to point out that it's not the tastiest. As my mom would say 'vendungara alavuku ennai vidalai na paruppu usili menniai pidikkum'. I live in London and paruppu usili is definitely only a once in a while treat, unlike Indian households back home where it's made more often. Hence, I believe that it can be eaten and enjoyed in its original full fat roasted muru muru form. Thanks. Namaskarams.

The way you make it is exactly the way my grandma used to...and I loved it. My mother steamed the beans with the ground dals and I did not like the taste when made that way. 🙏

I tried precooking the ground dals in the microwave oven and it worked. It was fast, and entailed fewer pots and pans than steaming!

Hai mamma first time today I tried this paruppu usili . One mistake panniten paruppuku Thani vidu araithu viten but kujam kalimathiri akkividatathu... Second video la parupu itly cooker la vegavaithathai parthen... But Nan cethumudithuden... Next time Sarita try panren ma....

Gita Rajamani, engathulai, yen paati agathu keerai paruppu usili dwadasi anniki pannirikaal. Selappo verum payatham paruppu pottum agathi keeraiyai usili pannuvaar. Romba kaalam aachu ithai saapittu. Naan inge tender small cut broccoli stems together with a little chopped Dino Kale oda pannuven. Paruppu usiliki, konjam light thovarpu items like vazhapoo or kothavarangai philosophy extend pannirken. Iskcon temple ithu romba pidikkum, ange panniriken. Try pannugo for Rasavati or this channel. Nalla savoy cabbage fine chopped oda usili pannalaam. Also payathangai, long beans, podiya cut panni seyalaam.

Usili pramadam. I also do same method taught by my mother, 85 yrs now. She also says not to add perungayam for onion sambar or curries with onion. For jeeraga rasam also, she tells not to put perungayam.
