This song fills me with so much joy. My wife Cheryl and I made this our first dance at our wedding.

I chose this song to play in my wedding 13 years ago in La Jolla, Calif. at the wedding bowl in Cuvier Park. It’s a popular and beautiful place for weddings. Anyways, she and I had children from previous marriages so we had each child hold a glass vase filled with different colored sand. As this song started to play each child one by one filled a larger glass vase, a symbol we were blending our families. It was beautiful and memorable.

What can I say? How can you not hear this and think anything other than WOW! Beautiful song by such extreme talent - that doesn't come around more than a few times in a lifetime. Pat Metheny Group - along with Pedro Aznar on vocals....captivating and filled with so much emotion. Even though I may not understand the words, it puts me in tears...

I will write a rough description of the lyrics( not a literal translation). It will lose a lot of its poetic value of course but you can get a hint of what this song it's about: The song it's about a person who wrote a poem and threw it to the sea, it carried all his questions and his voice in its words. As it starts vanishing away in the horizon and the seafoam, He asks the poem to return only until reaching high seas and asks it to tell him (when he is dreaming) what it sees while it's drifting away. He wonders what's better, if traveling through life by the calm blue sea or to sail through storms. That decision is not important if there is a port awaiting for you. He awaited for many years for the poem to return that he himself forgot to return to the sea. He then is afraid that he had lost the poem forever and shouted to skies with all the rancor he has harbored through the years. Then he finds that the poem is written on the sand but in the form of a prayer. He concludes by saying "the sea strucked in my veins and set my heart free". Hope this helps you to picture the song a lil better. I can tell you the lyrics in Spanish are beautiful, but i wanted to describe the song through images instead and to avoid killing Pedro's poetic usr of language 🙈

Lyrics from Spanish, in English... "I threw a poem to the sea, It took with it, my questions and my voice... As a slow boat, it was lost in the foam I asked it, not returning back Without having seen the whole sea And in my dreams, talk me about what it saw Even if it does not return. I would know if it arrived. Traveling the entire life, By the blue calm and in storms to capsize It doesn't matter if some port is awaiting I waited so long the answer... that I forgot to return to the sea And so I lost that poem I shouted to the skies all my rancor, I found it at the end, written in the sand... Like a prayer... The sea beated all my veins and left my heart free..."
