i have general knee problems (a medial tendonopathy, and a ITBS issue on same knee). this leg i injured a year ago playing frisbee and it's been a slow road to get this leg as strong as my left leg. do you recommend what you show here and progressions like tapping the heel in front (instead of stepping down as you show), or holding the front leg's heel down isometrically? slant board squats (perhaps with light load), and knees-over-toes front lunges w/ front leg on slant board? these are all good to do right for this sort of thing? i do know i also need to work on glute med strength on right leg as well.

I am 70 years old and suffered with knee pain to the point where I had to crawl upstairs. I had seen an orthopedic surgeon and was booked for knee replacement surgery. I managed to avoid surgery by losing 51 pounds. The weight loss was enough to eliminate my pain and I'm now able to run upstairs! I would suggest that individuals who are struggling with weight issues attempt to lose weight, combined with the exercise which you've demonstrated. Even if that alone doesn't help them to avoid surgery, I imagine that it will make their pre- and post-operative recovery easier.

@@karma9395 I couldn't use a treadmill but for some reason, the stationary bike worked very well for me. From what I understand, weight loss is mostly about what you eat, not so much about exercise, although that is important.

@@thudson99 Thank you for the congrats! I also find it helpful to weigh myself every morning. I make a note of the date and what my weight is so I can see how it fluctuates. Also, I keep a written record of my exercise i.e. bike, weights. These are just suggestions that have worked for me. Of course, everyone is different. Apparently, for every pound that you're overweight, it's three pounds of pressure on your knees. Again, my thanks for the congrats! Best regards from Canada!

Thankyou for your videos Doc. Can you tell me what can I do or take for my muscles in my legs and lower back . @@AdamJStoryDC Yeah, I was going to a Chiropratic Dr but he was concentrating only on my neck and shoulders instead of my sciatic nerve pain, or muscle pain. So I just started going to an accupunture doctor. I had one treatment so far. The irony in this is that my 2 children are Chiro doctors but they don't live in the same state as me. One is in Seattle with her own clinic and the other one is in Canada. They have been telling me of little excercises to do which helps a bit. But next day when I wake up its the same thing. I am icing the areas where I have these issues. The reason why I am asking about supplements is because I saw a Dr Axe talking about it and minerals and as well as tight muscles etc. My daughter said the same as you though. And she also said that I need to get regular adjustments and deep tissue massages. Thanks anyways for your reply
