My father was 11 years old when it happened. He told me all about it. Listening to Roosevelt's speech on the radio, the rationing, the scrap drives, victory gardens, the celebration at the end, everything. And then he served in the army during Korea. He passed in 2016. RIP Dad.

My brother went to visit this memorial,he’s never been an emotional person,he said a sense of sorrow came over him,he started choking up,started crying,it was gut wrenching for him,RIP sailors🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸

Well the crew on the USS Arizona had no chance of holding off waves of Japanese planes also the crew was surprised attacked by Japanese planes alot of men were actually cowards and were throwing themself off the ship and didn’t care for fighting till the end

President Roosevelt, the Pentagon had full information about the place and time of the Japanese attack, but for some reason did not tell the military at Pearl Harbor. I wonder why this happened? Many in the world know and understand this, but will the Americans themselves ever know?😄

Our father,had just gotten out of the Army infantry,Dec.1st,he was in San Francisco when Pearl Harbor was attacked,he re upped December 9th,this time “Airborne “,,at his funeral in 97,his war record was read to a packed church,my father never spoke of battle,only of the brotherhood of his fellow soldiers,he was awarded the Silver Star,Bronze Star,distinguished service medal ,numerous battle participation ribbons,he was denied the Medal of Honor,because of a incident that happened in July of 1932,he refused orders to attack and stop WWI veterans protest in Washington DC,called the Bonus march,he went to the brig and nearly court martialed,that came back to haunt him,he didn’t care about any medals anyway,he threw all his medals in a creek back home in Tennessee ,we had no idea of his war record,he wouldn’t talk about it,RIP “Scrap Iron”🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

“All the Gallant Men” by USS Arizona and navy veteran survivor Donald Stratton is an amazing piece of history. I high suggest anyone and everyone read it to get a better grasp of what Pearl Harbor was like for just a bunch of kids. The movie “Midway” adapted a lot of his actions into the film.

On the Arizona? A bomb went straight through the deck and landed in the magazine room and literally blew the ship in half. I think it was a lost cause for the ship at that point but other ships got a chance to strike a few

@@framurofficial The Japanese lost 29 aircraft and 5 midget submarines in the attack. One Japanese soldier was taken prisoner and 129 Japanese soldiers were killed. Out of all the Japanese ships that participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor only one, the Ushio, survived until the end of the war.
