Des Linden and Kara Goucher had a good conversation about whereabouts reporting in general on their "Nobody Asked Us" podcast. The sense is that the drug testers aren't trying to ding people for "life happens". You have a window to update your location if it's not where you originally planned, and they'll generally work with you if you're not exactly where you said you would be but are available for testing. The discussion wasn't about this new interface in particular, but the entire episode was pretty interesting - to get in depth from an athlete's POV.

Everyone read to much into Sha'Carri position on this matter. I don't hear or see frustration on her part. The most iconic figure in track and field today; is just expressing the importance of this sudden rule implementation and harshness it beholds. Showing her concern that no athlete get caught off-guard, whether they forget or just blatantly disregard it altogether. She's being concern for more than herself in this matter.

Knowing how the federation usually does things in a sloppy way, I'm sure all the athletes are worried about not being told all the proper steps and information they need to enter, notify people on, whatever, so they don't get hit with a violation that they've asked about before and just weren't told to do. But there could be a plan to keep changes sudden in the hopes of catching somebody doping.

Also you have to miss three test before your provisionally suspensioned. Pending a hearing, where you can plea your case.If you've missed three test, then you are avoiding them.
