That was a neat trick and well explained. I only suggest explaining the "why this works" a little better. It can be easy to learn a trick for a test, but if you learn why it works it can become more ingrained in memory.

I can explain this to you in language terms: 4 boys and 5 girls = 9 children --------> So, 4 boys out of 9 children (divide) = 0.44 or 44%, this is the % of boys out of the 100% children (0.44 is your golden number) which means for any number of children, the amount of boy will always be 44% of that. so just use the 0.44 to multiply to any amount of children and you get the amount of boys in it. I did the computation backwards, because its easier to explain. i divided first before I multiplied. ALSO, IS THAT YOU WITH NDGT?

If you are referring to the 160km in 3 hours question, I assume the only reason he has put it in the bottom right is because it is a time and he is keeping it uniform he has the distance on the top and the time at the bottom. In the previous question he kept the Australian dollar on the same line too

as for me I'll convert first the 3 hours to minutes = 3hours = 3 x 60 = 180 then, find out how many km the car travel in one minute 160/180 = 0.888888 km in one minute therefore , 45 minutes ? 45 x 0.88888 = 40 40 km in 45 minutes

The answer for how far does a car travels in 45 minutes if it does 160km in 3 hours is not quite right. IMO. Calculators round up the answer. If you divide 160 by 3 to see how far in an hour it travels it is 53.3km recurring. multiplying that by 0.75 works out at 39.999999 recurring. So extremely close but not exactly 40 :-) so the bigger the answer the more incorrect that method is.
@alive_and_kicking
2 жыл бұрын
3 hours is 12 quarters, 45 minutes is 3 quarters. 12/3 = 1/4. 160km/4 = 40KM only right answer. Do not allways trust your calculator.
