Charlie's relationship with Sam and Patrick was just as important as his relationship with his family. I really wanted them to leave in the bit where she finds out he smokes. Its like they both have things they don't tell their parents as all teens do, even teens with the best parents have secrets and its one of the key themes of the book that every person has a tragic story or secret or past, not to mention the constant theme of teenage rebellion. I feel like I needed more of his sister. She represents so much about the circle of protection Charlie has around him. Even though it seems like she does not care sometimes she constantly fears he will have a major depressive episode, as does his brother. I love Candice as a character, she's so effective in really making you think about what it means to be a sibling, and the abortion scene (plus the scene where she is hit and when he calls her while she's at college) are so important in that. The film was beautifully done and I don't think I've ever seen a more perfect cast for their roles but I wish it was longer.

This is actually my favorite part of this whole movie, I really needed this scene to be kept in the movie. It shows us many things. 1: it shows how outcasts are really treated, and it shows how much someone can hurt , especially when they’re just trying to make things right, but the whole world is pushing them away. 2: it shows what a little bit of kindness can really do. Charlie and Candice both needed to be loved, and they both needed someone who understood them, but no one else did, but they understood each other. People all need to have people who like them for who they really are, and not for their beauty or popularity, which is a big problem in America now. People need to feel loved and understood and cared for, everyone needs someone who loves and cares about them. So seeing what Charlie did for his sister, it really saved her, and she felt so much better, Charlie showed us as any good person would show, that if you’re really kind to people and help them out, it makes all the difference in the world. 3: this was the sweetest part of the movie, it showed Charlie and Candices true personalities, Charlie took care of his sister, even when no one else took care of him or even liked him anymore, he showed what a good friend is really like and how we as human beings should be treated. And Candice showed that even though she was popular and too busy for Charlie on the outside, on the inside she was just as human as anyone else and needed someone to care for her and take care of her, and she was just as afraid but still very caring for Charlie on the inside, and she showed that to Charlie when he took care of her. When I saw this scene, I could feel the emotions and the love between them, and I couldn’t believe they left this out of the movie, because this would have made the movie infinitely better

It’s incredible to think that someone could hurt his sister so badly, just because they see her as just another person who looks pretty, when Charlie sees her as his kind loving sister (at least until he got into high school), but I realize by this video that our perspectives on people have a great impact on what could happen to them. If you see someone as just someone pretty, then you won’t treat them like they matter and even think it’s okay to hurt them, and they will hate you, but if you see them as someone truly special who you have strong emotions for that you truly care about or even for how kind they are, you will never want to hurt them, and you will try to protect them and you will want them to stay safe, and you will always give them kindness and affection and sympathize with them when they feel hurt, and you will help them in any way you can, and they will always love you. Perspective is the most important part of a life with people or any kind of social life, and we should all cherish the people in our lives

The look on his face is so PAINED. It really shows how his Aunt his haunting literally every single thing he does, even when he's trying to be a good person. I wish they were smokers in the movie too. Had to get that Pg13 rating though.

really wish they didn't cut this scene. really wish they would have shown more of the sister and her transformation from being a mean older sister to being more protective of charlie.

I personally think that the mension of sexual assault and violence is more rated R then talking about abortion in the movie.

I thought this part of the book is not in the script for the movie! I was so wrong... It may not an important scene, deleting it still gave the movie a coherent and same impact. But still... it would be even greater if this scene is included

This should have been in the film. It was one of the best subplots in the book.

I don't know exactly why that this would make it rated R but in an interview with Stephen Chbosky he said that scene would make it rated R and thats why it wasn't in there

Stephen Chbosky wrote both the book and directed the film. No wonder the film still hits messages subtly even without these scenes

agh they cut so many good scenes (especially the poem scene omfg) if you haven't read the book you should it's so good

They cut this because in an interview the actors said it would bump up the rating, thus limiting the amount of people who could see the movie.

The fuck ! they dont go to the clinic just to abort the child ! and as if the clinic will ! i mean they go there bcoz they check it if she is really pregnant . and when the result is negative she called shes ex boyfriend that its just a false alarm and then when the ex asked if she want to get back together . and she said no . i love this scene so much and i dont know why they cut/delete a lot of scenes base on the book :'/

Actually..she did get an abortion at the clinic and then she lied to her ex about it being a false alarm.. You should read the book a little more thoroughly
