Welcome to my personal review of old rambling Rose ‘ Pauls Himalayan musk’ an introduction from 1876 this is a really useful rambler if you have the space available
A particularly large and vigourous climber which is going to reach in excess of 40 feet so please do make sure that you have the space and adequate support for this fast growing and graceful rambler
Flowering just once in a season between June and the end of July it will produce a enormous show of highly fragrant disk like loosely formed flowers born in huge sprays each flower around an inch to an inch and a quarter in diameter
They open from dark pink apricot tinged buds to apple blossom pink slowly fading to white, once fully established the petals fall like snow at the end of its display
A great rose to plant at the foot of an unsightly tree, or to cover an ugly building ! adored by pollinators this particular rose will thrive in full sun or partial shade and on any aspect
Once established the flowers hang gracefully on easy to train but heavily barbed stems so a great plant for planting for security or safety reasons if you want to secure a boundary
Unfortunately,it’s a little acceptable to mould and mildew, especially if conditions are cold and damp
The fragrance is musk based it’s warm woody and almost powdery
Fragrance rating 5⭐️s
