Welcome to my personal review of Rose “ England’s Rose”-(Auslounge) from david Austin roses introduced in 2010
forming a large upright shrub around 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall and around 3 to 3 1/2 feet wide it’s virtually thornless so perfect for planting in those places in the garden where there are high levels of traffic
Flowers are produced freely in large sprays between 10 and 20 heads per stem from June all the way through to the end of September opening from tightly spiral buds there are deep candy Pepto-Bismol pink in colour
Flowers are held upright on strong stems facing the sky, each around two and a half to three inches across this rose thrives in a whole multitude of places in the garden performing well in both full sun and partial shade and being equipped for handling dry and poor soils
Try using it in a large container or a low informal hedge
Hardy in zones 5-11 the flowers are very similar to those produced by Harlow Carr which is packed with fragrance and unfortunately thorns so if you’re looking for something a little more pet or child friendly England’s may make a good substitute
The foliage is dark green waxy, almost leathery to the touch deeply serrated on the outer edges There is a small amount of barbing to the leaf axis.
It’s low petal Count of just 25 petals per bloom also means that this one stands up to the inclement weather well and unlike Harlow car won’t turn to mush during a wet summer.
Fragrance wise it’s old rose based with warm notes of cloves nutmeg and start anise
Fragrance rating 3⭐️s
