welcome to my personal growing review of Rose ‘Sophys rose’(Auslot) from david Austin roses
Bred and introduced in 1997 this rose is named after the daughter of Wendy Fisher who set up the dyslexia Institute in 1972
For those of you, longing for a deep crimson red rose maybe as a substitute for Darcy Bussell, which has now been retired in the UK, this may be a rose you wish to consider
Creating a very attractive shrub 3.5’ tall by 3 1/2 feet wide the flowers are held beautifully upright above the shrub allowing them to catch the light beautifully each bloom around 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The petals slowly gets smaller from the outer edges as they work towards a creamy yellow eye which surrounds a golden cluster of statements at the race centre.
Best grown in full sun receiving at least 5 to 6 hours of sunlight per day it has a strong and reliable repeat flowering from all the way through to the back end of September
The foliage is almost opaque in its look deeply textured and almost rough to the touch,
Unfortunately, this Rose has an absolutely no fragrance but is incredibly pretty nonetheless it cuts well and when brought into the house and placed in a vase last between four and five days
Fragrance rating 1⭐️
