I respect this so much! I also have trouble buying from a brand that’s sending 20-30 influencers away on a mini vacation to post a picture of their new lip balm in a private italian villa - why wouldn’t they take that offer even if the product blows? If I follow an influencer “discernment” has to be one of their top values.

Brand trips are an absolutely insane concept “we sent a few people who already have a nice, fun job and make bank on a free trip and gave them free stuff, doesn’t that make you want to buy our stuff?”
@aoielf

@@pb_and_nutellaBrand trips aren't about selling to consumers. They are about winning over influencers so they continue to market their product. The cost of the brand trip per person may also be similar to the fee an influence may charge so you are killing two birds with one stone
@pb_and_nutella
26 күн бұрын
@@aoielf I'm aware, I am talking about the way that it reads from the consumer perspective, especially because influencers are often taking pictures of the products while on the trips and sharing pictures from the trips thanking the brands; it goes from something that is just between the brand/ influencer to something between the brand, influencer, and consumer
@aoielf

@@pb_and_nutella it's funny bc the influencers are not being directly paid yet it is more obvious than when companies pay influencers to bash competitive brands

I wouldn't call those Petty reasons I would call those very logical reasons and it shows you have morals and that you care about the people who are going to hear about your advice as a whole. You don't know us and we don't know you but you want to give us good information. I appreciate that. Now if you could go back to Sheets. I need a good set of flannel sheets and I need a good set of Summer sheets. I do like bamboo, rayon or cotton. No mixed Blends 100%. I have sensitive skin and I like soft sheets. I bought sheets from Home Goods (which is the same as Marshalls and TJ Maxx). One said Turkish cotton flannel they were white and had pretty light blue dots. The other was 100% bamboo what's pretty blue flowers on a white background. They felt like heaven. They were so soft and light weight. They were for summer. I bought the sheets right before winter ended. So I use the flannel sheets for about 4 weeks they didn't hold up great. The bamboo sheets started to get run down after the first wash and after for weeks they felt like sandpaper. I don't know what to do with them now I don't want to touch them. I use unscented clear detergent and vinegar rinse. They went from super soft to Super horrible they're supposed to be 100% bamboo. Both sheet sers are 100% crap. I don't earn a lot of money but I would like to have some decent sets of sheets. Now I'm afraid to buy anything.

I don't understand the first name thing. In any slightly professional setting, you always adress people by their last name first until you offer them to use your first name. If a stranger I've never met or interacted with called me by my first name, I would be weirded out. Of course, social media is not a strict formal business setting, but you made your full name public, not only your first name. So it only makes sense that brands would address you with it.

If they "only work with celebrities" why would they reach out to you? I'm confused by that one. If they are reaching out to non celebrity influencers then they don't only work with celebrities. Can you help me understand?
@Kkun-qs2gt
20 күн бұрын
Its not mutually exclusive. Jennifer is saying that if the brand has budget to get celebrity endorsement, then the business is focused too heavily on marketing and devoting a large budget to do it. Versus, using non-celebrity influencers who will cost less for endorsement. Jennifer is sussing out what kind of company that brand is and what their business model is like in order to figure out if they're ethical or worth reviewing and/or endorsing.

Ana Luisa has some decent stuff (yes lots of content creators vouch for them) but they are okay for their quality and price, I have a few of their rings, necklaces and stuff. There is also Kendra Scott kinda like the Tory Burch of jewelry that is reasonably priced. There is Astrid &Miyu and they are based in the UK, a tad bit more pricy but their quality is better than Ana Luisa, I’d buy more of their stuff but yeah a bit more pricey

I assume this is a thing with addressing the person by name, not necessarily by first/last name. If they are doing spam emails, they will typically go with something generic for copy-pasta, such as "Dear influencer" (yes, I stole that example off another comment) If she genuinely means addressing by "first name" and first name *only* -- this is something slightly different, which is... "did you actually do research and consume my content" - this is something that Amanda from Swell Entertainment has put out as well as her criteria, where the brand *has* to do due diligence with properly going through content to see how the influencer addresses his/herself to prove they've actually done research to see if this influencer matches the particular brand's image/ideals, and whether the brand matches the influencer's image/ideals as well
