Mike, I really like this as it's real world photography. Most of us don't have easy access to stunning mountains or the Scottish highlands but everyday places are almost "just round the corner" . Just a great down to earth approach keeping it simple and learning to "See" the photographic opportunities that present themselves and exploring the options available with focal length, positioning and exposure and combining it with a trusty motorcycle things just couldn't be any better. I've also done a couple of MotoPhoto type vlogs, it's a great way to spend a few hours :) Sandy

Hi Mike. I’m loving every single one of these videos. Ever since I received my driver’s license at age 16 I have wondered the roads. I have always been observant of the surroundings as I travel and have TAKEN many images that have been less than impressive. Thanks to starting your Masterclass and watching these awesome videos I’m learning to CREATE better images. Thank you for all you do sharing your knowledge, your encouraging words that keep us going when we struggle and get discouraged, and teaching us how to become better photographers. There aren’t enough words to express how truly appreciative I am.

Mike, would you ever 'fake' a photo by adding a shaft of light or changing the sky for another sky image on editing software. Like with your first photo you wanted a shaft of light on the house, but it wasn't happening that time. Also if you took a photo with a rubbish sky, like a clear sunny day as there. I'm the same, I like some clouds, not a clear sky. But would you ever consider changing a sky in post to make it look better and more sellable. I'd love to know your thoughts on doing that please. 🙂
@MikeBrowne
2 жыл бұрын
Unless you're a world class retoucher (which I'm not) Trying to alter light in an image will look fake and horrible. I'm not much into retouching and only do the minimum. If it was a client brief to shoot that place in a shaft of light through clouds, I'd explain it could take weeks to achieve, cost a fortune in my time waiting for weather to change. Or I'd put them in contact with someone who can retouch appropriately and charge them accordingly. I never shoot pictures hoping to sell them by the way. Hope that helped ... MIKE🙏😊

Hey Mike. Just loved this tutorial too. I have a general confusion while using the wide lens for a large scene but with a tiny or a distant subject , what should be the focal point and what is a suitable focal length to get the entire scene nice and clear?
@MikeBrowne
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sonia. Hmm that's quite a big question because it depends on how you want your image to look. Focal point depends on how far away from the subject you are and how much front to back sharpness (depth of field) you want. If everything in the scene is beyond what's called the infinity point of the lens being used, it doesn't matter where you focus because everything will be sharp at any aperture. I know, sounds like a brain fry. Photography is like a row of dominos. You adjust one thing for creative reasons and that has a knock on effect on other settings. 1st step is to fully understand what each thing does - and why, so you can arrange them. That's what my online Masterclass In Photography course does, one step at a time, lots of real workld examples where you can see me do it, explain settings and why. There are even lessons about where to focus. Please check out the link below... MIKE🙏😊 www.photographycourses.biz/courses/photography-masterclass

@MikeBrowne
Жыл бұрын
I always use evaluative metering to get a starting point then adjust as needed to get the exposure that gives me the brightness I want. Histogram is my go to exposure indicator because light meters try to make the tone mid grey - and I might not want it to be mid grey. Please take a look at my online course 'Masterclass In Photography' because i know it will help you with mysteries such as arguing with the light meter, using light, and much more. It costs less than a cheap used lens, the information is yours forever and is 100% refund guaranteed so you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain... MB www.photographycourses.biz/masterclass

I hate the phrase "rule of thirds". Photography has no rules or regulations, do whatever YOU want to get the shot YOU like.
