George, very convenient to get rid of those spotty scoundrels by using SMUDGE tool. Sure, one has to use smudge tool in small numbers - like ONE, TWO or may be THREE. You need to get some experience. But SMUDGE tool doesn't BLUR the surface. And you can duplicate picture, then sharpen the upper one as many times as you want. Now have eraser tool (opacity 70%, 50% or sometimes just 30%) and rub as much as you need too sharp places, too shiny places, spotty places, and so on. They will be OK. I just shared some experience and not trying to teach a great specialist which you certainly are. I don't do my own pictures. I work mostly with pictures from the past. Otherwise I would buy your training course long ago. Veniamin

HI George, thanks für that great Video. Can you tell me, how i can edjust my mouse so it shows the effect in the picture when I use the drop down. The move you show at 7:10. For some reason this function does not work on my computer at all. Greatings from Germany

Hi, that is a basic technique that has been in Photoshop Elements forever. But I am in the US and you are in Germany. Due to EU copyright laws the EU version of Photoshop Elements doesn't have all the features of the US version.

Hi G, we have a black dog who disappears in every photo. I need to just lighten the dog.
@HTGGeorge
8 ай бұрын
That's a neat trick. Seriously, make a duplicate of your image layer, make a selection around the dog, use that to make a layer mask (just hit the layer mask button), then apply a levels adjustment layer to that dog layer. If you can't see the edges of the dog (black dog at night) then it could be tricky. As always the best way to fix a picture is when it is taken, see if you can put some light on your dog for your photos.

Hi, I hope this is the rihgt place to ask you if you can comment the use of the tablet XP-Pen Star G640 on Photoshop Elements. It seems an interesting tool but I can not find any info on this combination like compatibility (does it work at all on PSE?) and/or possibly some other user experience (is it as effective as it is on Photoshop?). At best I can find info on the various tablets usage on Photoshop, while for PSE I can find some info only about a Wacom tablet.

For those of us just starting out.. you left the photo unfinished with all the layers still separated 🤷🏻♀️
@HTGGeorge
5 ай бұрын
That's not unfinished. There hasn't been a need to merge layers or flatten a photo for at least 25 years. You can print directly from the Photoshop Elements file with the layers intact. If you need a jpg or png for use online then just do a Save As to either format, you will then have two files, one the Photoshop Elements psd file with layers and one for use online. My recommendation has always been to never flatten or merge an image.

Good grief, I’ve been out of the chair a long time! Everything I know about PS is from 2008 and I just got Elements to go back at it. Thanks! So, why not flatten?
@HTGGeorge
5 ай бұрын
@@lindat2037 Hi Linda, there is no longer any need to flatten an image. That used to be needed before doing a conversion to a different format like jpg, but that is all handled now in the background during a Save As. So if you save to the png or jpg format Photoshop Elements does the flattening as part of the save routine and leaves your working file alone. The main reason for leaving the layers is so that you can go back and do more editing in the future if you want to. There never was a reason to flatten an image if all you want to do is print it.
