I watch every video and they are mostly pretty awesome but I have to say this falls a bit flat. A 14 handicap hits his fitted driver better than an off the shelf. don't we all? I think for this to be a test that's taken serious you have to fit the cobra to him then see which performs best both being optimized for Mark. maybe retitle this video "fitted driver vs. off the shelf" and talk to the benefits of being fitted. that would fall more in line with the content on this one.

Interesting video James. Considering Mark has been fitted for the Ping, that spin rate of 3700 is pretty bad. Is he hitting down on it slightly? Some work to do in the lessons! Lol. Would you consider a shaft change to help so that perhaps his swing doesn’t have to change too much? Cheers

How did he go with the G400 Max? I’ve been fitted for both the 410 and 400 Max and ended up keeping the Max. The 410 was slightly (10 meters) linger, but the Max was definitely more forgiving. Play of 13, so maybe comparable, though I do hit the ball a little further...

I like the Cobra Speedzone Xtreme better but I'm also considering G410 SFT driver. With this video, I'm not sure it's a fair comparison bc he was fitted for the Ping and not for the Cobra. With the Ping G410, I don't feel like it needs to be fitted bc of the adjustable weight in the back. If you draw the ball, set the face to fade to offset and hopefully it goes straight. Vise versa with the fade, set the face as a draw. On dog legs adjust accordingly. The prefect driver for me would be the adjustable weight in the back with a bigger head for more confidence.

The Xtreme here reminds me of my experience with the Cobra f9 10.5 degree , it just wants to go left. After just two months I sold the cobra f9 because I play a fade, I went back to my Cobra f8 which fades for me without worry of the lefts.

I think Mark needs more lessons!! Spin rates of 3100 rpm for Xtreme and 3700 for Ping are way too high, if he could get the spin down to 2500rpm there is at least 15 yards extra distance in there.

Cant get too low spin. With a slower swing speed spin will help keep it in the air. 3700 I'll agree is too high but he should prolly stay 2800-3200. Dont want that ball falling out of the sky cause it has no speed on it

Those extra yards are well worth investigating. If Mark can control the Speedzone, then the extra distance has to swing it. Out of interest, what were delivery numbers on Marks wild one? Path and face etc??? Also the swing weight of the club might be throwing him off compared to what he's used to?

A very quick run through a few irons and then the driver. I felt much better with the cobra but the pro insisted the ping were a better fit and said the driver had more distance . I bought the ping ,played my first game got average results could not, and still can't use the ping 3 wood. I'm only a hacker low 90s is a very happy day for me. I have the heavier weight 14 gm. Forward which reduces the MOI. Have to have the weight forward (back spin is 2,500 rpm). willie moss-walden I was custom fit for my F9 by Club Champion NJ this past early February (Ping G410+ wasnt in stock yet). Driver was Custom fit with ACCRA fx 2.0 360 M4 shaft ($365 shaft. 🤦♂️). Compared F9 to TS3 & Epic Flash SubZero same day/same shaft and i got 2-3 mph faster ball speeds with F9. F9 with Accra shaft gave me impressive #’s: Smash: 1.49; backspin 2,395 rpm; Launch 13.9 deg. Clubhead: 98.7 mph; Ballspeed 146.6 mph; carry 242 yards. Considering my custom fit was on 2/2/19, first time swinging a club since Nov. 2018 i was happy with my #’s. I wanted to compare to G410+, but unfortunately club champion didn’t have it in stock yet. After 21 rounds this year i realized how unforgiving the F9 is. Looking at MyGolfSpy’s post regarding MOI in drivers i can see how low the MOI of the F9 driver is with the heavy weight forward (which is how my F9 was custom built) compared to the G410+ which is in a league by itself I’m predicting the G410+ will be a better fit for me, based on dispersion figures i see all over KZitem I’m pretty confident it will be !

Slower swing speed but higher ball speed for the Cobra doesn't make sense. Is the Cobra a bit hotter or does it have more "spring like effect?" Or is the smash factor higher for the Cobra and the shaft is causing the shot dispersion? Get him fitted for the Cobra and shaft and see what the difference would be.

Ultimately it comes down towards what a player likes at address and how it feels at impact nowadays. Almost every driver out in the market performs as good as any other. This is why getting fit is very important. The shaft is the engine of the driver all players should know that. But in these circumstances as this video shows. 3000+ SPIN on a driver is all TECHNIQUE. Also the same shaft as the “gamer” driver was not used in the Cobra driver so was it a fair competition? Nonetheless, unless you’re Rory, Tiger, DJ, Day, etc, golfers need to worry about what improves their game the best not what will get them 300+ drives in the rough..
