Hello, I Stopp at 28:34 to say 2 things. First be careful when turning the player on to see if the disc is moving. I did this and the reflection of the laser off the disc 🔥 or irritated my eye so that I couldn’t see for 3 days. And there’s 2 screws on top of the laser to adjust reading and tracking. By turning them very slightest the disc will begin to turn. After you reach the appropriate speed then adjust the tracking. Good video. I like how you solve one problems then go to the next. The Process of Elimination ALWAYS is successful.

What was the background noise near the end of the video? I guess fan or air conditioning going? Hope u are able to get that pioneer 3 magazine,,18 disc cd player working with the replacement bracket from another pioneer model. As I've never seen such a machine that takes 3 magazines,,,18 discs b4. The one I have here only takes one magazine,,,6 discs. Had repaired the changer mechanism,,,replaced 2 broken,,,and a slack belt,,,now it works changing discs,,,and playing great too.

the replacement gears are made by a guy in Poland he uses some kind of polyurethane resin to make new gears. he seems to carry over 100 dif gears for cd players, tape decks dcc and dat machines.

@@nickfrench7372 ya that gear failing its pretty common it seems because its metal teeth meshing with a plastic gear ud think they could have made the gear out of metal to back in the day then maybe they wouldn't get chewed up.

what was the switch cleaner you used?

My PD-TM3 would not eject ANY cartridges but would play a disc. checked the belts - amazingly intact. While watching your video I kept playing with it and noticed the park position at startup was very important for it to know what it was doing. manually parked the transport and unplugged it for about 30 seconds or longer and it came back to life. Still would not eject in slot 1 (and I assumed the other slots).... So after watching your transport section realized each slot is different, so i tried different slots... got slot 3 to work after a few tries of not working. then slot two, then slot one started working!!!! Fixed??? I donno, sounds like those jeezless switches!!! I know better than to spray just any old switch cleaner in those switches - could melt and glue the insides. So still interested in what kind of switch cleaner you are using, just in case I have later problems. Fixed my CT-W502R dual cassette player about a month ago, Melted belts, working through the system. I have a problem between the tuner section and the amp on my VSX-D702S receiver but I have the service manual for it. probably a little transistor. It picks up stations but no sound. That problem appeared after a thunderstorm around 2004 - also fried the main amp chip. Replaced it probably 10 (15) years ago but didn't notice the tuner problem right away. everything else works and I use her mainly for watching TV. I bought all this stuff new and now its time to get them back to perfect (or near perfect) working order. Gotta love these old units - nothing like them today!!!!

One thing I noticed on my PD-TM3 was if the unit knew the transport was at the top of the travel on startup, the little elevator motor would resist a light finger spin and would not let you turn it easily. It would jitter a bit and then go back to the top. If it was lost, it would let me do whatever I wanted to it with a finger spin. Had to make sure she was ALL the way up on an unplug - 30 seconds - replug for it to realize it was parked. Otherwise it would do nothing when buttons are pushed. No elevator action, no pulling out a disc, no playing a disc.... nothing. That old assembly language code had no recovery if things weren't just so on startup. Nowadays, it would try a few different things to determine where it was and repark... not back then!!!! I've gotten used to that and forgot...

the belts and gear were the problem and due to that gear chewing it self up it bang the mech to the bottom making the bracket on the bottom go out of place. the switches were also dirty casing detection problems with the trays. the laser mech worked perfectly before shipping and i put a ton of bubble wrap in the box.

@@mraaron1584 it had plenty of bubble wrap but looking at the cabinet that is warped it looks like it was dropped, but the box wasn't really banged up. Unit must have shifted inside the box.

That's why I photograph everything as soon as it arrives, to show any damage. Don't feel bad, about 20 years ago I shipped a CRT monitor in a crate. I sold an old Conrac rack mount monitor on Ebay. It went for 20 bucks. The shipping on it was 140 due to the weight. It arrived with the picture tube smashed. The guy wanted his money back. I said, sure, ship it back to me and you can have your 20 bucks back. He expected to get the freight and all covered. I said, you get your 20 when it arrives back.

@@12voltvids ya i wouldn't get caught dead shipping a crt now a days shipping company would ruin it for sure. now a days ebay would force u to pay the return shipping or if u don't provide him the pre paid label they just give him the money back in tell him to keep it. thats actuality what happened with the pd-tm3 guy shipped it fedex to ebays global shipping centre then they forward it to Canada via purolator the whole front of the unit was smashed. i uploaded pics to the return case ebay told guy to issue a return label he declined to as that was going cost more then the cd player so ebay closed the case in my favour told me to keep it and gave the money back.

@@mraaron1584 Just serviced a Philips cd650. Now that is a cd player. Single disk swing arm laser pickup and tda1641 DAC. I have one and it sounds unbelievable. Has 2 outputs, a raw output and an extra filtered output. The extra filtered output makes it very smooth especially going to a tube amp. Makes CDs sound like vinyl in terms of smoothness. That's why the tda1541 is sought after. That video will go up later.

older 80's cd players had a lock on them or a screw to attach on the bottom to keep the transport from moving during shipment but I'm not sure if yours has one or not. i shipped a few 5 disc changers (no transport lock on them)one in the original box and it still got damaged & 2 other ones got damaged in shipping also.
