Great video. Sweet granadilla is my favorite fruit. I have had trouble finding it at a nursery so I have a couple plants I started from seed .

Hello, thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, it is amazing. I had a lot of trouble too and tried to start it from seed but they never took. I read that they have to be fresh seeds directly from the fruit. I'm glad that yours are growing!

Hello @jameshardy2339, thank you for watching and commenting! I appreciate the kind words and I agree with you. I have gotten better at editing and bought a microphone so it is definitely easier to hear me in my newer videos. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do for these ones.

Your yard looks great. Maybe in a month or two could you give us an update on how your Lychee tree is doing? I’m kinda waiting to see how your tree does before I decide to plant one. Hoping to plant my first seedling loquat in ground this Fall, schedule permitting.

Hello, thank you for watching and commenting! It has been doing really well, even with our extreme heat we’re having right now. I’m actually planting some new plants in this heat. Lychee tree is doing good, still alive and should start putting out new growth around September when we cool off a little. I ended up giving it more sun until about 10:30 so a few leaves got sunburned but it is hanging in there. A loquat in the fall sounds awesome! What variety did you get?

@@thegreenyardaz So, didn’t see your response until just now. Always received any response in my email but for some reason they are not showing up there anymore. This summer has shown me that I need to spend a little more time on building up my microclimates. I had an Orange Sherbet mango seedling die on me and my citrus trees are really struggling. My fault, but will be changing out some of my drip system, in addition to working on my microclimates. Was out of town for June and July, overall, I’m pretty happy with how things went. Enlightenment Garden has some really good clips on clumping bamboo. I’m slowly preparing a space for an Asian Lemon bamboo and possibly a second spot. Slow work in this heat. Kinda looking like the Loquat may have to wait. I’m going to go with a seedling when I do, any suggestions?

Did these end up being sweet granadillas? Were you able to get them to fruit? Just came back from Peru to Phoenix and tried these for the first time there - I’d love to grow them or find out where to buy!

Hello @marensorensen2013, thank you for watching and commenting! Unfortunately, the vine did not make it through our record heat last year. I have a feeling that they can grow in Phoenix but they need to be planted in the spring to get acclimated before our heat. That is so amazing that you got to go to Peru, I love the country and am always excited to eat the exotic fruit when we visit my wife's family there. I have had a very hard time finding any Sweet Granadilla plants so if you find some please let me know!

Which nursery did you find this at? And did they have any more? I've been looking for this plant in the valley for some time too.

Hello, thank you for watching and commenting! I found this at Greenlife by Shamus O'Leary Tropicals. They had three left when I was there and bought one. Hope this helps you!

@@thegreenyardaz interesting, I just called and they told me they only sold giant granadilla. I'll have to go look for myself I guess. Thanks!

Yeah, I was told by one of the main people that works there that it was a Sweet Granadilla, hopefully he was right. I guess we'll find out as time goes on. If not I have to find somewhere else that actually sells the Sweet Granadilla. Definitely let me know if you find somewhere that has them!

@@thegreenyardazthat is definately not a Sweet Granadilla, that is a Giant Granadilla (Passiflora Quadrangularis). I do grow both among others. Ask Shamus to get you a Ligularis, although they are a highland species and don't like the heat as much.

@@thegreenyardaz did you ever confirm whether you got ligularis or quadrangularis? They have very similar leaves. Either way, how is it doing for you?

Hello @saklynabil4149, thank you for watching and commenting! Unfortunately our Sweet Granadilla was not a success. I personally think that they can be grown here in Phoenix but I believe I planted mine at the incorrect time. I feel that if I would have planted it in spring after the last frost it would have had enough time to get acclimated before our summer heat. If you get a chance to try one let me know if it is successful or not. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Looks a bit shady there. Passionfruit seem to like a lot of sun, that's my experience .

Phoenix often hits 110F+ (43C+) in the summer, which is much hotter than the ideal of around 65-80F (20-25C), and they get very little cloud cover and it's very dry, so planting in the sun would be too stressful. They should still get some indirect light and maybe a bit of filtered light. Maybe some light in the winter as well if some of the surrounding trees lose their leaves. On the other hand, where I live it's much milder in the summer, and wet and cloudy, so even out in the open the plants don't get that much sun or heat stress.

Hello @danieltalis7711, thank you for watching and commenting! Here in the Phoenix area, passion fruit vines need to have their trunks shaded from our intense sun and heat. They do need to grow into full sun though and their shoots thrive from being in full sun. Unfortunately if the vine is planted in full sun without their trunk being shaded they will burn and potentially die.

Hello @Lochness19, thank you for watching and commenting! You are correct! It is very hot and passion fruits here need to have their trunks shaded in order for it to be successful. If they are planted in full sun they can burn and potentially die. Luckily it is planted under a Mulberry tree that looses its leaves in the winter so it gets enough sun.
