Warren, work smarter not harder, something my grand dad instilled in me at a very young age. Saves your back and knees and yes, as we get older, we'll feel it in short order. As a retired farmer, I was taught and instilled in me that, 1: check oil, engine, trans, hyd. BEFORE turning the key on. 2: double check the anti-freeze. 3: change fluids and filters at certain number of hrs or miles. 4: keep your equipment clean. 5: see a leak, fix it immediately. Don't understand how some people can't understand a simple concept as this. As always, another great video, cheers :)

Damn Warren, that's a lot of crap in that air drier! I bet you dollars to doughnuts the wet and dry tanks are loaded with crap as well. Had the Mounties in Hope condemn a truck on a roadside inspection the wet tank was almost full of sludge, took almost a hour to blow the crap out of it. We had to thin it out by adding methyl hydrate to the tank. It's amazing how guys who don't own it treat it, yet soon as it's broken, they are the ones crying they haven't got it to go to work.. Thanks for the Share great video with lots of heavy damage.. Stay safe.. Cheer!

Any more advise how to get the system clean after years of that sludge living in there?
@zukowski2023
7 ай бұрын
@@nathankisner8332 That's a good question Nathan. For years Methyl Hydrate was about the only thing you could add to the lines to soften up the oil and sludge build up in the lines because older lines were rubber lined. With the newer low temperature Nylon/Teflon lines (plastic lines) I would guess Methyl Hydrate is still approved for use in air lines. If Warren has a moment, maybe he could chime in here. I know in the dead of winter working outside with a tiger torch, fish wire and MH makes for a miserable job unplugging frozen lines.

A Medical Doctors grand daughter pulled up in our driveway Sunday with a big GMC dually and asked me if her Grandads engine would be seriously hurt because she drove it about 50 miles to our place with the oil light on and the last few miles running derated about 5 miles an hour. I had a couple pails of Rotella in the garage and her truck had less than 4 quarts in it. It had a Duramax in it, so instead of hauling it somewhere to at least get the pan dropped and bearings checked, he paid me for the oil and told her to just continue to drive it. Go figure. Those Hendricksons are back breakers, arent they? Get some rest, Bill

Not lazy, selfish. I have seen many people saying, "Oh, these companies are rich, so they can afford to fix things." Not thinking that when they go broke due to their negligence, they will not have a job. But these guys are the first to start complaining about the job loss-entitlement, selfishness. There is no consideration for things; everything is disposed of. I grew up like you, Warren, and we took care of things. My wife asks me why I keep such old things, but it still works and is dependable.

It’s pretty bad when the only one who cares about the equipment is an outside mechanic. 4 Gallons out of 11 Gallons was almost a new engine. Maybe they should run the old 7.3L Diesels, at least if the oil got too low it wouldn’t run. That truck is probably run everyday to feed with and it would be a big problem if it went down for a few weeks. Appreciate your videos and commentary as always. Sometimes it’s a case of easy come, easy go. Everything that I have came from the sweat of my brow and having to struggle and pinch pennies to get ahead. Because of that I am anal about the maintenance on everything that I own. Some people who know me think I am too particular about how I care for my stuff until they hear that I’m selling something . I have always been fortunate to get top dollar for any truck or tractor that I have owned because of the detailed and and comprehensive maintenance records that I keep on all my stuff. Hell, I can’t even sleep good at night if I know something is due for an oil change and I haven’t done it yet.
