Hi Rich! Thank you so much for your video. You included several great details, and when I had a few questions for my situation, like how to remove it (quick tug) and what #s on the label were important when ordering a new capacitor, it felt like you were the Dad over my shoulder. I hope to learn more from your other videos as I need them ( or hopefully don't need them? 🙂) P.S. And your in Texas, my dad was an Aggie!

Oh my gosh I should have googled for this video before I went and spent $347 on a new pump. It was humming so I just assumed the motor was bad. But now I'm going to buy a capacitor and I guess maybe I will have a spare for next time. In about 15 years or less :-) thanks for the video it is very helpful I should have just googled this problem before I took that expensive step.

Lately my pump is buzzing for about 10-15 seconds then starts. This morning it kept buzzing and eventually stopped. I noticed the motor is very hot and the stickers are melting on the outside. I turned the unit off for a few minutes and plugged it back in. More buzzing so I bagged it a little and it started running again. Capacitor issue? When it runs it is quiet and very strong. Thanks

I am going to try this tomorrow after a pool tech came out and said I need a new pump for $2000. My current capacitor has 3 connectors going in it RED, BLUE, GREEN. I will buy another brand capacitor cos in Australia it's hard to find the same one. Do the 3 connector needs to plug into any specific slots on the new capacitor? Or can they go anywhere? Thanks heaps dude, much love from Australia

Hook it up like the old capacitor. Basically you have 2 halves of the capacitor. If 2 wires go to one side or half and 1 wire to the other half, then just make sure you do it that way. Which posts on that half does not matter.

@truelightpoolsllc4441

Possibly, I don't know what pump you have, so test as the video shows and see if it works. Make sure motor shaft spins freely, if it's hard to spin, even new capacitors won't spin the motor and you still get the humming.

I changed the capacitor but still humming. I quickly turn with a screwdriver and the pump starts and runs fine. Once it turns off and the trimmer kicks it back on, humming again. I put the pump in July 2022. Any ideas why?
@truelightpoolsllc4441
Жыл бұрын
Maybe there is some corrosion or stiffness in the shaft as it spins. See if you can easily spin the motor shaft with your fingers. Or does it spin most of the way around, but then stick and become hard to spin? That's what I've seen when the capacitor is still good but motor just hums and won't start. If no problem with shaft spinning freely, then something else is going wrong with the motor then.

Not sure, make sure voltage is correct and wiring is correct on how it should be wired on your system. Otherwise may want to replace motor under warranty.

If the motor shaft does not spin freely then you will have to probably replace the motor due to corrosion around motor shaft.

@truelightpoolsllc4441

@@etmeyutub If the capacitor is good, you can spin the motor shaft freely and you have correct voltage to the pump but it's still not starting, then something has gone wrong with the electrical windings in the motor and it has to be replaced. @truelightpoolsllc4441

That message is related to the pressure switch on the heater. Make sure that the flow through the heater and flow through the pool system is good. No obstructions and the filter is clean, skimmers empty, pump basket empty, pump impeller is clean, etc. If those are good and you have strong flow through the pool and heater then you may need to replace the pressure switch. Look online to see where it's located on your model of heater.
