Thank you very much for this guide. I'm inspired and about to build my own speaker. Almost everything is clear except the step down voltage board how to configure it right and if any way how to test it before soldering to the Bluetooth module so I won't damage it if voltage is not ok. I would be nice to include these steps (those included in the video I'm just not 100% sure what to do) on the official guide you provided on the webpage so this guide won't be 99% but 1000% complete. Thank you once again

Hi Stanislav! Thank you so much for watching and being interested in building your own. The main purpose of that step is to reduce the voltage from 12V to 5V. In the video I have used a power supply that can supply 12V, which I connected to the input of the step down module and connected a voltmeter on the output of the step down module. By turning the potentiometer I adjusted the voltage so that the voltmeter shows 5V on the output. After that you can solder the step down module's output to the isolated converter. It is not necessary to use a 12V power supply to adjust the step down module's output, you can solder the output from the BMS board directly to the step down module and do the adjustment of the voltage then. I hope this helps! 👌

Hi Donny, I am currently building this portable speaker according to your plan. If I look at your video to the shot at 16m15sec, that I see 2 wires from the Bluetooth board GND + VCC going directly to the 555 timer chip. Though in your PDF wiring scheme, these wires go to the 505 isolated converter. Because in your scheme the wiring goes from the 555 timer -> step-down-converter -> 505 isolated converter -> Bluetooth board. So my question is, which one is right? Your wiring scheme? Or the scheme as in the video?
@DonnyTerek
5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for your interest in the project. I have to admit, I did some rewiring once the speaker components where installed off camera. The right way would be in the wiring diagram on my Instructables page. Please refer to it rather than the video. But I would highly suggest that you would wait a bit until my next project where I use way less components and it makes it much simpler and therefore eliminates the need of the 555 timer switch. I would consider this project quite outdated, now that I have come up with new and simpler ideas for a speaker build. Thanks!
@KolfMAKER
5 жыл бұрын
That's a clear answer Donny. Now I know what to use as my reference. Good to hear your are coming up with a next project with an improved design. Look forward to that! Since I have all components in house to make this build, I will anyhow proceed and use the diagrams as the right reference. Thnx!@@DonnyTerek

this is by far the best build i have seen so far according to what i want to build. how much did you spend for the electronics part of the build? what speaker drivers are those? how do you think this compares to a ultimate ears boom product line? because i paid around 100 for a ue wonderboom and i want to diy something better than that. i just paid 115 dollars for electronics on the build i want to do but im having trouble figuring out the size for my enclosure. i purchased two 4" dayton audio RS100's 4ohm 30watt speakers and the dayton audio kab-230v3 amplifier with the 18650 board to power it.... anyone know any proper dimensions for this setup enclosure?
@DonnyTerek
5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you so much! I have spent around 50USD. The speaker drivers can be found in the video description. Unfortunately I do not have a UE Boom that I could compare to but there is no chance for a DIY project to stand against a commercial one. I guess you should check the parameters of the woofers, many times the manufacturer writes the necessary enclosure volume.

Very nice build overall. Just a noob-ish question, would it be possible to just add a boost converter on the input jack, boosting the voltage to 12V so the speaker would be charged with a regular usb charger?
@DonnyTerek
6 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks! That is a great question actually and it is possible but it would simply take twice as long to charge the speaker with a regular usb charger since they usually output 5 Watts, but the 12V charger outputs 12W.

Yea I thought about that and thought I'd use an old ipad charger I have lying around. Hi! Try connecting the positive and negative cables to the speaker to see if it plays first. I guess you can leave the third cable unconnected.

Двух пассивных излучателей такого размера для этих динамиков много , заглуши один , звучание лучше будет (басс появится).
