Using it for armor itself would be idiotic but it would make a fantastic underlayer

This also brings the idea of modern samurai armor into my mind again where instead of using multiple plates made of layered paper or leather you use modern materials and composites to achieve the same effect which looking at stuff like ultra high molecular density polyethylene and how that shitt is basically bullet be gone you could quite likely make ballistic rated armor in that sort of style with relative ease

It more than likely only cut because the hard backing if it was soft muscle behind it that would’ve absorbed enough of the impact to stop the cutting

For a more realistic test, replace the wood with ballistics jelly and internal skeletal structure of the arm. My guess is the squishy muscles under this fabric make cutting even more difficult.

The thing about armor is, it was never meant to keep you alive. Just minimize your injury. Would it stop someone with an axe from amputating an arm? Definitely not. Would it stop a fiend swinging a switchblade haphazardly? Yes.

Post apocalypse for slashing I'm going to use a button down long sleeved denim shirt with strips of sheet metal linked together longways with coins to cover gaps. All linked by metal wire punched through. In an afternoon and some scraps I have something that'll stop anything that's not hardened steel in a polearm like configuration. I'll likely get bruises and maybe a fracture but it's better than an arterial bleed or missing arm

All this PPE have ratings, your's being A6 is pretty good, but don't put your blood on the line. I had to specifically request better gloves and was given a few options to decide on, as the original ones we were given did NOT fare well against the sharp steel stampings we had to handle... to prove that to my boss he watched me cleanly cut a finger off the glove by lightly dragging it across a part's edge.

Honestly tho, this could pair well underneath a leather jacket, especially since it on your skin would have more give than on a plank of wood, therefore making it abit more cut resistant in practice. But honestly in a post-apocalyptic scenario I think most people would use a blunt weapon or an Axe/Hatchet type weapon. So would probably do nothing to protect you from a head on attack that way lol.

Youre arm will absorb a lot of the impact of the big swing. Preventing the knife to cut it. Plabk doesnt give a crimp..(big guy huh!) Thats why it cut it. Stabbing is different.. that point will probebly puch the fibres away and it will draw some blood.. not sure how much.

an interesting thing to consider - your muscle and fat has a ton of give compared to a solid wooden surface, so im not convinced it would even penetrate on a full swing when used in a practical setting. Maybe some ballistic gel dummies would be appropriate?
