Makes me realize how lucky I was. I was arrested for a bad check that i didn't know anything about due to moving at the time it happened. I was in San Antonio at the time and the offense happened in Dallas. I was able to bond myself out via bail bond place. I was allowed to just call in once a week until court while still continuing to work which involved daily travel within a 400 miles radius of Dallas. I felt like the bond fee was high but it beat the poop out of being in jail and was far less than the last wages would have been.

As a former bail bondsman myself one of the first questions I would ask, potentially ironically, is what would these people do to actually protect the public from defendants that are actually guilty and dangerous? He didn't seem to address one of the biggest concerns that all of us have had to make our decisions based upon. The judge or magistrate himself at least in one state that I know of decides whether to even allow the person to be bonded out in the first place based on at least one of two criteria. Number one: are they dangerous enough to the community to warrant, no pun intended, them being retained in custody and number two, are they a flight risk, which is one of the things that bail bondsman have to determine to be able to take a case in the first place. It's not just about letting everybody out arbitrarily. The Constitution I believe provides for bail which, if I remember correctly, and anybody can correct me if I'm off on a fact or something, but the Constitution provides for people not being unnecessarily inprisoned, for one, because, supposedly, as Americans, people are supposed to be, "innocent until proven guilty." Bail bonds is a type of insurance, literally, purchased through a states department of insurance and the bondsman are literally insurance agents with the state, representing, I guess private insurance companies, I believe, but their job is to weed out people that are flight risks and a danger to the community. Those are what we call "bad bonds," in the industry. Now, definitely corruption exists within the government and within the bail bonds industry I assume at least and greed, as well as the bad reputation that lawyers have... But, it's literally a bondsman's job to help people get out of jail at a discounted rate so that people can exercise their constitutional right to reasonable bail. Any greedy or corrupt person can take advantage of just about any human system that is out there, of course, but, the system is not for that and in one state that I know of that I have worked in in bail bonds you don't even have to charge a fee besides the state mandated 10% if you don't want. Anything above the 10% is your own personal fee for doing the work which is considered commission earned, because there's not many of us that can work for free. They're already getting a 90% discount on their bond from the court anyway if they go through a bondsman. Bail bonds is just another way of keeping the public safe and keeping potentially dangerous people held accountable and in check until the judge, whose job it is, during the arraignment, decides that this person should serve more time or be set free. Anybody can choose to do constructive things and do good in the community or evil no matter what job they're doing. Bail bonds itself is not designed to be predatory or evil. It gives people a chance to get out of jail almost for free at a discounted rate which they deserve if they are innocent. If not the system Continues to keep real criminals in check. This guy made it sound so constrictive to be out on bail. You Want people to take criminal charges seriously. Especially the more serious charges.!

Hampton Law ? What is the situation, if THE UNITED STATES is at war, like a WW3 type war and nuclear bombs are about to drop. Does the police leave you in jail to burn or just let you go ?

I’m super confused because I DID NOT go through a bondsman . It said 10% to court or $7,000. So I paid $700 and now the guy said he’s gonna run. But will I have to pay the $7000?!?

If you’re sentenced and you’re in prison you just have your time to do. Bail is something you can post when you are fighting your case.

@@svenskanorsk There could also be bail by appeal but that is something that would have to be set up by an attorney
