Over the last couple of years, I've grown to highly appreciate potassium and it importance in the lawn.

I did the math and that's some crazy money you're spending just for the potash (at $65 to $75 a bag).

This is what I could get my hands on at the time I shot the video to correct my potassium deficiency. I didn't have any cheaper options locally available at the time. It only took two bags and I'm back in optimal range so it worked for me. Thanks for watching 👍

What setting did you have your spreader on?
@TheLawnLover

I usually run thr Spyker on 4, this typically gets me about 3lbs per 1k rate

So if I understand correctly, you put down 2lbs of product per 1000 but only 1lb of K per 1000 since it's a 0-0-48.
@TheLawnLover
Жыл бұрын
Yes at the bag rate of 2lbs per 1k it equals about 0.96lbs of K per 1k sq ft. The bag rate is just a guide, you can go higher or lower depending on your needs or what you are targeting. I went bag rate last year because I was also applying some Turf Titan products that also had K in it. Thanks for watching Jeff, great question!

What ppm count should a person be aiming for ?
@TheLawnLover
2 жыл бұрын
Excellent question! The range on the soil test that I use is 38-72ppm for potassium. Mine is rather low at 25.86ppm, which is why I opted to apply the 0-0-48 in an effort to boost my level into optimum range this summer. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I never realized I could purchase and apply straight potassium on the lawn. I need to get some of this to help with summer stress. Great video

Absolutely! I would first recommend a soil test if you haven't done so already since this product is made to correct potassium deficiencies. If your potassium is in ideal range or if it is high, I wouldn't recommend using it.

does that product show a spreader setting?
@TheLawnLover
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will have some settings on the label (yardmastery.com/products/yard-mastery-0-0-48-sop). The key is to weight out the pounds you want per 1k sq ft and calibrate your spreader accordingly. I just use a luggage scale and bucket. Thanks for watching and commenting!

What about Muriate of potash instead of sop?
@TheLawnLover
Жыл бұрын
MOP is less expensive, but has a higher salt index and chloride content. SOP is a higher quality form of potash that includes potassium and sulfur. It really comes down to preference on what you apply to your lawn and what is within your budget. I personally only use the SOP product in my lawn. Thanks for watching - great question!

Can you apply this and a normal fertilizer like the flagship yard mastery at the same time without burning the lawn?
@TheLawnLover
Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! The sulfate of potash will not burn your lawn - when I applied it, I went at the recommended rate and did multiple applications over the course of the summer to boost the potassium deficiency that I had. It worked fantastic. Thanks for watching!
