No thanks, I resolved it already. The reason was that the variable I used was already in use somewhere else. When I tried changing it to a different name, it worked like a charm. I'm leaving this answer so that newcomers like me who are inexperienced in PowerApps can resolve this if they ever encounter the same problem.
