I'm pelvic floor physio (from Spain) that works with pregnant women before, during and after pregnancy/birth, so I'm going to tell you a couple things in case you don't know it. 1. The tightness down there, is related to muscle strength on the muscles outside and inside your "you-know-what", and those can be trained with squishing & relaxing exercises. What happens during birth is that they have to relax completely to allow the child to pass, and the hormonal storm of giving birth, debilitates every single muscle on the body. But after the 6th week after birth this stops and you can train the muscles back to normal tone (in 2 weeks would be normal - the pelvic floor ones at least, the rest of the body would take longer). 2. Muscle training is key during pregnancy because you'll have more "power" to push the baby, to shorten the labour, SPECIALLY if you train your quads and adductors. 3. To avoid tearing up, you have to train your pelvic floor muscles during pregnancy and around week 36, start doing the relaxing massage of "you-know-what", you can google it. 4.Even tho I am against epidural because of the risk of sticking a needle in the spinal cord, there is now forms of epidural that allow you to move and walk and get on whatever position you want to birth. 5. Focus on training your breathing, is key to a healthy pregnancy and delivery. 6. Once you are delivering the baby, push DURING EXPIRATION, that way your core is tight helping the child to exit, and the pressure of the push would be contain instead for going to your "you-know-what", avoiding tearing up and incontinences. 7. Last but not least, on average, it takes up until 2 years for the body to completely heal and get back to normal. So be patient with your self. Sorry for any spelling mistakes. Edit: I used "you-know-what" instead of the correct anatomic name of the thing, because I know KZitem and other platforms can punish the commenter and/or the creator of the video when those words appear, by eliminating the comment and/or demonetizing the video. There is nothing wrong with using the actual name of the body parts, on the contrary, I just didn't want the comment to be eliminated or undo Sissel's work.

I am so grateful that my father was adamant about teaching us and speaking with us in Spanish in the home despite what teachers at the time were saying because we were learning English and French at school (example: it will confuse them, they will fall behind). Instead, our parents stayed aware of our language journey and supported us through the ups and downs of it. I'm so grateful to them now. I often see people lose themselves in parenthood completely and while understandable for such a huge shift it's also very unfortunate. It's really important for a child to see that their parents have their own identity and hobbies. I think it's very beneficial for development. I think we put a lot of focus on not losing ourselves in motherhood. For me personally it was something I feared. But honestly it’s one of the most beautiful things to be lost in. It’s so special. I would say honestly lose yourself because the woman that emerges after is such a pleasure to be.
@Shirumoon
3 ай бұрын
@@KendallM0219 Umm it depends on how you define losing yourself. If you end up with no friends afterwards and a severe depression once your child/children have moved out, that is extremely unhealthy. Also this can lead to helicopter parenting which harms both the parents and the child mentally. Being lost in parenthood may be nice during the first few years but if you can't let go after that and accept that both you and your little one are seperate entities, it's gonna be rough.

One thing I’d also recommend is researching and looking into the NICU options at the hospitals or birthing places you are considering giving birth at. For my first pregnancy I was considered low risk but then out of nowhere my water broke at 25 weeks. I had planned to do a natural birth and all the plans I made went out the window. My baby had a long stay at the NICU of about 4 months. It was quite an emotional journey but he is a little fighter. He’s now almost a year old and does have a few developmental physical delays but is healthy. I’m now pregnant with my second and he is going to be delivered via c section in about 2 weeks. I was hoping to give birth naturally but because of the way I was cut and my first baby being so premature I can’t ever do it. I’m at peace with that though because I just care about the health of the baby. I hope you have a good healthy birth.

I'm due 20 July and we have very similar thoughts on epidural, etc. :) I think it's so interesting that one of the questions was will you test for genetic abnormality -- I'm much older than you so for me, doing things like NIPT is standard of care here in the USA just because of my age. No one ever asked me if I was going to test for this, everyone just kind of knows if you are "advanced maternal age" that you probably will! I know it's expensive for people that don't qualify for it through insurance here, though. Another thing that's so interesting is that they told you no exercise!! Every time I see my OB/GYN she checks on my exercise regimen, and it's highly encouraged. My Korean teacher is living in Japan and is due a few days before me, though, and it sounds like her advices from doctors there has also been different from what she heard in Korea. Do they advise you about weight in Korea? In the USA there's a recommended amount of gain based on your pre-pregnancy weight. My teacher in Japan said she was told to "eat like a bird" and not gain much. It's so fascinating how different these advices can be!
@IchigoNoShoujo

Wow, it's shocking to hear what the common Korean narrative is around birth. I'm European and I feel the exact same way you do, even down to the epidural thing. It seems like Koreans do not really think much about the bonding part of birth/post-pregnancy, while that's one of the main concerns here in Europe. It's so refreshing to hear a European perspective because lots of KZitemrs I watch that live in Asia are Northern American, and their way of giving birth is another culture shock on its own to me. 😂 As you say, everyone should choose their own way of giving birth and it will obviously be influenced by where you come from. I hope you find a place that takes care of your needs and I wish you all the best 🥰

Try your best to think of good thoughts only, practice breathing exercises as you will need that when the baby is about to come out. I hope you will have a high tolerance for pain that you will not have the need for an epidural but if you do, hey, it is perfectly ok. Besides worrying about the baby, you also have to worry about yourself, of course.👍 Either way, everything will be good, try not to worry too much, enjoy the ride, enjoy all the food that you crave. Remember: your child will come out having it’s on mind and personality from the beginning. It’s not an empty vessel that you fill with your ideas of culture or language. This will come over time. So be adaptive to this new person in your life. Getting to know your child and listening to their thoughts is the best part.

Your absolutely right on everything you said regarding birth. I have heard about having a baby in Korea. Being from the USA, most of your thoughts are spot on.

Gee giving birth in South Korea sounds very clinical. It’s very sad, as a mother of 4 (six pregnancies but 2 miscarriages) skin on skin contact is very important after the birth. It’s horrendous to me that they clean and take the baby away 😮 You sound like you have your head screwed on properly and I hope it goes well for you. Just be prepared for the unexpected because these things rarely go as planned. Also, don’t be too hard on yourself as a new mum it’s not easy and we tend to think we’re doing something wrong. They don’t come with instructions, it’s a steep learning curve and just do your best, I’m sure you and Jake will be amazing parents. Is your mother coming over to stay for a while after the birth?

I raised my kids similar to how you were describing. I would take them along on my usual routine. Like going out for lunch or dinner and to the mall or grocery store. I did wait for the first couple of months after they were born. I needed time to rest and bond first. My kids grew up being well behaved when going out because they were used to it and so was I. I was able to handle little emergencies like diaper blowouts like a pro. Lol. I was much more relaxed about everything than my friend who was kind of obsessed about her kids routines. She was stressed out when we would meet up because she didn’t do it often enough. Kids will pick up on your level of calmness. 💜 You are already amazing parents. I know in my heart you are ready for this epic journey.💜

You will have to realise that being multi language the child WILL speak a mixture of all languages within one sentence thus your request of same language must be spoken by the child speaks that you speak to the child in. I am bilingual and I mixed both Finnish and English into the same sentence. This is extremely common.

Hillarious - just rewatched your Tipsy Talk Series(which was great). Feel like we have all moved on to Sober Talk Series - good times ahead. Maybe instead of wine it is Sober Sipping series over tea. Keep up the gym work if u are comfortable with it . I did- but people around me were more concerned than I was.

Congrats ! 💚 We are based here, I pay taxes here. Traveling back to Denmark highly pregnant and then back to Korea with a new born sounds extremely stressful. Plus, I don’t pay taxes in Denmark so I am pretty sure I would have to pay for delivery in Denmark (not too sure on that tho) 💚

the fact that you want to show the face of your baby on the internet is so wild to me. maybe it’s bc I live in a country where literally everybody on social media gets canceled for this exact reason but damn I would be way too anxious that pictures of my future baby end up on nasty websites. I heard way too many disgusting stories. i truly hope that everything works out fine for you guys 😌🙏🏻

You are glowing! I love your approach to pregnancy and birth so much. One think I would like to add about showing your child online: it's not about the face, it's about the whole body. Future employers will be able to see them as babies. I am very, very glad my employers can't do that. And also, people really really really underestimate the darknet. I can't believe people don't understand that videos and photos of babys/children are so very likely to land in the darknet. Once there, you have no control over what is done with those videos and photos.

That’s wild that the majority of briths are c sections in korea! I didn’t know that. I think it is way more traumatic to undergo a major surgery while awake than a natural birth 👀 I work for a women & newborns hospital in the US & one of the metrics we track/our goals is to minimize elective c sections because outcomes are often worse for mother/baby

My husband is also Korean, I’m from Austria and we live in Austria. We recently had a daughter and called her Juna (유나) 🥰 The name is not that common yet for German natives but it’s a beautiful name in my opinion and works well in both countries. Other names we liked but didn’t make it were Emma, Sarah, Lilly or (H)Anna Sending you lots of love from Europe and all the best for your pregnancy journey ❤

I'm so excited for you and jake to experience this, and hope all goes well. so interesting to hear your thoughts on natural birth, i relate so much to wanting to feel present and in control throughout all of the process. I was wondering what you think of the gender thing, i suppose it's the norm in korea as elsewhere, to fixate on the gender before you can even get to now the baby. I suppose gender won't matter to the baby until they're a few years old, but do you feel positive and prepared mentally for the baby to live out their own gender identity as they get older? much love and best wishes Xx
@sisselab

I don’t think wanting to find out the gender means you ignore the child’s qualities when they get here. We will be raising our kid as the gender they are biologically. If they’ll experience gender dysmorphia later in life, then that’s something we’ll go through then 💚

Dear sissel congratulations!! so happy for you! I have to warn you about the exposure of your kid on any channel, I'm working in AI as an engineer. Please don't do it. Very bad things are happening and will continue to happen because of AI, the images/videos can be used as a template to produce very disturbing ones and used for very bad purposes. It's already happenning. I don't wanna scare you, I'm just seeing many influencers share their children like it's the most natural thing in 2024 but it's not and it is a huuuge mistake. You're absolutely right to keep it as "your" channel.

Wow I'm shocked to hear about the birthing practices in Korea, that sadly goes to show how far we've strayed away from witnessing and experiencing our own nature and bodily functions. I don't know too much abt S.Korea, only from things I've seen on youtube and such, but all these practices in the hospitals and choices made by the mothers (a surgical procedure only for their husbands sake??😭) seems to be rooted in misogynistic thoughts, not trusting our bodies and other things like seeing our own bodily fluids as dirty when it's a part of us. Of course not the mothers fault here, it's just how modern society has evolved over time while gender norms seems to be lagging behind. As for names, my cousin who recently gave birth to her son with her Danish partner named the boy Eik, after the oak tree. Very Scandinavian as he is Norwegian/Danish and easy to pronounce (however I assume in Korean it has to be pronounced as "Eikeu" and will not be pronounced the same). Good luck with the baby names and pregnancy going forward, I'll be excited for the gender reveal in the meantime🥰

I had a similar thought process and I am very happy that there are - not many - but at least some options for natural birth in Seoul. It’s also my first pregnancy but I think it’s so important to feel comfortable and not anxious about the experience. So excited to follow your journey 😊 I feel like you’ll have a cute baby boy 🧡

Dear sissel, I was so excited when you told us that you were pregnant!! I wish you and your new little family all the best!! I've just given birth, m'y son is now five months old, and like you I think that giving birth is such an exciting and powerful experience, same goes for pregnancy and motherhood. This little soul chose you and jake go grow up with and because of that, I really think that both of you should trust your intuition and stay in charge instead of letting doctors or others control everything. Sissel, your energy in the Video is so beautiful, I'm sure your baby feels your big smile, your love and your connectedness ❤

It will feel like a twitch or butterflies at around 18 weeks. It doesn't feel like there is a baby until weeks later. Eventually, kicks and twists and the belly gets big and that's when the amazement that there is a baby inside starts. Crazy and amazing at the same time.
