You remind me of my grandmother, when I was a child(think I can remember that far lol). She lived off grid until in her nineties when her Alzheimer's affliction got to the point we moved her to town so we could more readily care for her. I didn't know the tern "water glass" but when you said hydrated lime, I was right cack there in that little Cabin again. Can't believe I had forgotten. Thanks again sweet family

That is adorable and precious how you include your daughter and it’s really sweet the way you talk to her to teach her things. America needs more parents like you! I’ve seen a lot of new parents recently that talk really sharp towards their kids, don’t include them because “it takes to long” or they don’t have the patience. Thank you for raising a child that will most likely be patient, kind, gentle and eventually raise her children in much the same way.

I noticed some comments regarding wasting ziplock bags and re-using them. Great idea and love the passion for less waste, but there's the problem as mentioned by our lovely presenter, that they tend to leak after storage/freezing. This is because the substance inside, once frozen is a much more hostile texture and doesn't tolerate bumps, knocks or even much movement. When unfrozen stuff is in the bags, there is little potential for bag damage, but when the stuff turns solid, within a very thin plastic bag, any contact with another hard object (pretty much anything in the freezer or even the counter top) then a small hole is more than likely to result. Too small to see usually, but not too small for fluid to escape. So good on you folks that manage to recycle these, but I wouldn't hasten to criticise someone for tending toward single use. One option that might help would be to have a tupperware or similar container that the individual bags are placed in for freezer storage to generally protect the bags. Though this may compromise on space as the eggs are removed, unless you have a replacement plan in mind which the label/date system would assist greatly. Love your vids, so very helpful to avoid waste and enable folks to use perishables to their fullest extent. Thank you so much.

Hannah is so adorable!!! I have this thing with wasting ziplock bags so I wash and reuse them 🤫 I just put the bag of eggs in a flat pan with a little cool tap water and let it “thaw” a couple minutes, it will easily break in half with some thumb pressure and is easy to slip out of the bag without much mess or having to cut the bag :) I just hate using more plastic than I need to 😒

I love this ! The only thing i dont like is cutting the bag and discarding the plastic. Plastic comes from oil and will never break down. It contaminates the soil and the sea. Most marine and bird life is choking on plastic, and by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the sea. I would be patient and wait for the egg to defrost, tip them out and then wash the zip lock bag with hot soapy water. That said, I dont buy or use single use plastic, so i would use a container. Great channel keep up the fantastic work! #zerowaste

There are only two of us around here, so we don’t need that many at once. I have found that freezing eggs using my silicone muffin liners works really well too. Once they are frozen, I transfer them to a bin in the freezer and just reach in and take out however many I need that day. This is a great way to have separated eggs when your recipe calls for eggs whites and yolks individually. I have been watching your other videos on egg preservation and can’t wait to try the Lyme water!

I use them to freeze soups, stocks, grated vegetables, chopped vegetables, pizza cheese, and more (in the right amounts for us), and it is so important to label them.
