My wife took out here Force CF1400 washer from the shed and set it up, and nothing. The GFI plug tested and showed on (red). I took the cowl apart and verified power on the backside of the on/off switch. So, either the motor is shot or its something else. She used it normally last time (many months ago) and put it away working. So, I think either the pressure switch is faulty (open), or the pressure spring is stuck pushing the switch to the open/cut-off position. My next step is to do exactly what you showed in this video, which was a huge help in my troubleshooting process. I'm hoping it goes as easily as yours did! Thanks for showing me the way

i have a 2000psi from ryobi it works fine and all but when you aren't using it say your washing the rims. The pressure washer keeps trying to turn on by itself and shuts off it just keeps doing it over and over. Also seems like at the nozzle it leaks a bit. When i rengage the pressure washer it sprays with a lot of force for the first 2 seconds.

My 1700 turns on and the motor seems to run very strong but as though there is no load on it. There is no pressure build up, any thoughts on what could cause this? So far I detached the motor from the pump housing and the gear on the end of the motor shaft seems to sometimes grab and sometimes be loose, any idea if that is the issue? ...or is it more likely something in the pump housing has failed and is not allowing pressure to build?

At about the 58 second mark, do you know the name for that brass piece with the white plastic that triggers the switch? Having tried every path but finding them unclogged, I removed that part and now need a replacement as re-installing it requires the strength of Hercules to suppress that spring and secure it with the pin. Doing so damaged that brass piece.

Hi Dakota, great video! I have a 1700 psi ryobi washer that when i turn it on, the pump turns on but runs slightly rougher than it should and also never stops. from experience i know that it is supposed to stop once it's pressurized but that never seems to happen. i also feel that the trigger on the spray wand needs more pressure than normal to activate but once i activate, the pump sounds more normal and works as it should. i have to turn the washer off to get the pump to stop when i'm done using it but when i stop it, it makes a strange noise like it rubs against something. do you think i should go straight to replacing the switch or would cleaning the pressure relief valve be a good first step before replacing the switch?

Great video! I have a question on a ryobi 3300 gas pressure washer. At first it wouldn't start, so I took apart the carb and cleaned it. Now it starts no problem. When I first pull the trigger on the wand there is a 1-2 second massive kick/pressure and then nothing. Motor continues to run and same thing over and over. So I'm thinking it could be in need of new pump or something else. Any suggestions?

I have a Task Force 1600 Pressure Washer. It works, but there is a water leak coming out of the pressure switch pin and going into the limit switch housing. Not a good thing to have water on the electrical connections of the limit switch. I have tried to fix it by replacing the O rings in the assembly between the limit switch and the pump housing. Still sprays water around the pin. I cannot find a parts diagram that defines what parts make up the assembly. Any ideas?

I just bought a 1700psi unit a couple hours ago. Im experiencing the same thing. A few trigger pulls of it cycling on and off then randomly itll stay constantly on and produce the proper pressure. I let off the trigger and again a few pulls of it, it cycles and then randomly itll stay on constant again. Not sure what is the issue except possibly a faulty pressure switch maybe?
@justunross3922
4 жыл бұрын
So when it does stay on constantly, you mean it's producing high pressure but it's doing it whether your squeezing the trigger on the wand or not? As in, it's fully on and if you let go of the trigger, instead of it causing the pump to go into bypass like it should, there's little or no effect to the pump / pressure when you let go of the trigger? And when you say a few trigger pulls of it cycling on and off, Do you mean it cycles "ON" when you engage the trigger and cycles "OFF" when the triggers released, as in it's working as it should, but then it may randomly come on by itself, Or do you mean when you go to use it and engage the trigger the pump will pressure like all is well but then start to cycle on and off WITH the trigger still squeezed ( I take it by on and off you mean the pump / pressure will drop out ( OFF) then pop back up(ON), then drop back out, then back up, until finally it will "stay constantly on", Correct? and when you say it's "cycling" on and off if you are talking about the pump / pressure dropping down then coming back up Is it like or the same as when it's working correctly and pressure drops when you release the trigger and comes back up to normal high pressure when you squeeze the trigger again?

I replaced my yellow tip and it fixed this problem. The old tip had partially rusted closed, creating too much pressure and cycling it on and off.

I just took my 1700 psi apart and noticed the switch is stuck in the down position. When I turn the washer on, it automatically runs and won’t stop. If I push the switch up, it stops. Is that an unloader issue, or the switch? I thought the unloader valve is supposed to push the switch up when under pressure? I can’t tell which part is malfunctioning..the washer does not turn off and constantly runs like the wand trigger is pulled. Thank you
@DakotaBusy
4 жыл бұрын
When it builds enough pressure it should push the white pin up, stopping the motor. If it is not moving I would try removing the pin and cleaning everything the best you can.
@Golfkid3
4 жыл бұрын
DakotaBusy What do you mean by removing the pin? I took the unloader valve out and cleaned it and it still doesn’t work. Is it possible to take the switch out and clean it or is that not necessary? The unloader valve is not pushing the pin up at all. Only way it stops is if I stick my finger in the switch and push it. I don’t know how to solder so I’m really hoping it’s not the switch, so I don’t have to buy a whole new pressure washer. I just bought this one 2 years ago. Thanks for the reply.
@DakotaBusy

Yeah. The unloaded valve should move up to actuate the switch. I know you said you already cleaned it but I do have a video showing how I cleaned it up here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/zp6Fl65uopSrn2U. After I cleaned up mine it moved properly and hit the switch. If that doesn’t work I wonder if there would be a plug/debris deeper in the system? Best of luck!

I have a few of these myself. Any chance you changed the oil in the pump? I know you should have to but it makes me wonder what kind of Chinese peanut oil they put it it. I was thinking of changing it out with some belray marine 85w90 mineral gear oil. Anyway I have a 2000 psi model that doesn't kick on when the trigger.is.pressed. I'll try the pressure switch first. The GFCI apppears to work. It's a brushless motor Soni don't think burned up. The model I'm referring to is the ry141900. The 1700 psi ones sounds awful.
@DakotaBusy
6 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! No, I never did change out the oil but it wouldn't be a bad idea to do that. That is a good point, who knows what crap they put in there. Remember you can always test continuity across that switch before you go through the hassle of unsoldering it. Good luck with your repair!

My guess is a bad o-ring in the wand or something is causing the o-ring to not seal properly. It should be pretty simple to open up with a basic screw driver. Take pictures as you go so you know what goes where. If its a bad/split o-ring, you can get o-ring kits on amazon or go to any hardware store.
