wow, I can’t believe this was recorded six years ago! And it popped up in my feed today for the first time, right when I have decided to buy a Prius and convert it. Great tips, and I love love love that little table! Thank you so much.

Wow! I just bought a nice Gen 3 Prius and plan on camping in a few days. I sure like his set up! I went to RTR in my Neon and I yanked out the back and passenger seat and built a platform bed. At 6'4" tall I slept in back a few days ago and it wasn't so comfortable as I couldn't stretch out. I guess I should remove my rear seat and build a platform. I would love to know more about adding a 2nd battery like Prius stealth adventures did so I could have more electrical ports/accesories in the vehicle. I always have to switch the 12v plugs and I have a 300 watt inverter. I have always camped with dry food and water. Having a fridge would be Awesome!

Okay this is awesome. Best Prius setup ever. I like how organized and non messy it is. The light switch is a really smart idea. I was wondering why he kept the privacy cover as well a great idea I was going to throw mine out hahaha. I was also going to take out the full back seat and the passenger seat but I like his idea of leaving the 40% seat I think I'll do that too. I'm going to do his setup almost exactly. Would like a lot more detail.

In June 2022, with Gasoline at approx. $ 5 gallon in many places, the cost of driving his Class-B Across the Country would be over $ 10,000 a year ! Prius or other Toyota Hybrid Camping has really become a relevant thing in 2022 !

He should consume 444 gallons of fuel X $2.50 a gallon comes to $1111.11. He can easily get 45 mpg with a gen 3 even if he runs it to power AC overnight. Trick is set your AC to 72 and your heater to 65 that way you don't get too cold and don't burn too much fuel staying cool. Also want to use fans the box fan from 02 cool is a good device to have on hand that will allow you to set your thermostat higher. Also want to park in the right place if winter you want to be in the center of a black top to take advantage of warming from the sun or next to a west facing wall. Summer you want to be on that North East facing wall at night so you are not parking where the sun warmed that location. If you can park in grass near woods even better. My Prius is different from his it is a gen 2 he has a gen 3 he could sell them tables he should get a patent on that and mass produce them.

I'm surprised he doesn't sell those tables. He could sell them at 50x or more material cost buying the materials in bulk, spend a day cranking out a couple dozen and just mail them out of his storage. Just advertising it on the priuswellers subreddit alone would clear stock.

This looks amazing, but because so much stuff blocked the water system I cannot tell you how it is put together. Vague descriptions without demonstrations, without closeups, and without clear views are frustrating. As is the yelping dog. Pace of the tour was too fast. This could have been a really useful diy video of a great setup.

+Tito 86 sorry so long to reply, we've been having way to much fun on the road lately, and been busy working on a larger project. Yes that yelping dog was one of ours, sorry. She couldn't understand why daddy was standing right over there not paying attention. This was an impromptu video shoot with only one handheld cam. I started not to do this but was so impressed with Brent's with I had to share it. Thanks for watching.

@dancordray8686
7 жыл бұрын
+DailyOC I believe he had it tied to a twelve circuit in the car. So, when the voltage on that circuit dropped the car would start itself and charge. That was one of the advantages he points out in the video. The Prius being a "smart" car would monitor and maintain itself even while he slept.

he spoke of a generator.. but did not show what type or how where it is situated. It doesn't seem it would be safe to have a gasoline generator inside the passenger compartment.

Very good catch I actually had to go back and watch the video myself again. I believe when he referred to his 400 watt pure sine-wave inverter he said generator instead of inverter. This interview was totally unscripted and rather spur of the moment. Thanks for watching, please subscribe and share the video. I am taking a little break from life on the road to prepare for a bigger full-time adventure in early 2017.

thanks.. after watching this i did more search on youtube and saw that there are some people that have deviced ways to use the car engine as the generator through the 12 battery system i believe. I am not clear if there is another way to connect up the highvoltage battery to draw energy from that battery. Hope to learn more about this. In a plug in hybrid i can imagine in addition to recharging the batteries.. energy can be used to run appliances and heating etc.

He could mass produce those tables for the rear door and earn a killing. I would make it out of aluminium and slice of angle aluminium. By the time he got to the RTR he had a solar panel for that smaller battery pack.

It's fairly easy to take the shape from the door column with a Profile Gauge/ Contour Gauge (less than $10 at Home Depot, e.g.) so it's probably not worth his while. But a piece of material thick enough to span the gap without edge support, maybe Al?, would stow away easier. My next project.
