I am struggling to create decent rocks and cliffs. They always turn out to be predictable, at least in my mind. Weird. It is just a rock, but why is it so hard? This is very helpful.

Thanks for the comment - happy that you found this helpful! 😊 I think most of us can relate, they can be tricky. Experimenting with different options and workflows is always a good way to learn - for instance, sculpting and then reducing the poly count, and/or using Displacement modifiers can give great results.

This was a really useful tutorial, although I cant seem to get the pointiness to work on my meshes corners, it seems to not really have any affect at all

Thanks. The key is to keep any boundary edges or edge loops close to the main edges (the ones which make your overall shape). Once you do that, it should be tighter (more pointy) around those edges. Also, make sure you set your Bevel to a value which works on the Scale of your model. Apply Scale if it's non-uniform, very important. I hope that helps. Let me know how you get on.
