I just appreciate people like you. You have a name but not something like R.C. Sproul or Robert Godfrey or Sinclair Ferguson. However, the motivation and the urge to help people. Not to brag but to help is just amazing. You're have your M.DIV and your DMin and the humbleness from your voice just speaks awe to me. Thank you for your work. I really appreciate it

Hi Pastor Matt. I wanted to thank you for your superb content and your willingness to make these videos. I'm sure I can speak for many of your subscribers in saying that you have been such a big help for us younger Pastors with the advice and practical tips you've given over the years. While I respectfully disagree with some of your theology as I'm not in the Reformed camp, I appreciate your respect towards those who land in other theological camps. When it comes to Pastoral advice, I of course seek counsel from my lead Pastor and other older Pastors around me, but I always check out your channel to see if you have any videos on the subject at hand. Your videos on Pastoral ministry have greatly blessed me and encouraged me when I'm feeling a level of temporary burnout. You are such a blessing to the body of Christ and I pray that the Lord continues to bless you, your ministry, your marriage, and your family.

Being a university student I have been applying some of your methods for the past 1.5 weeks and my study has never been more productive and enjoyable. The switching types of tasks every hour advice has been essential to: fighting procrastination, keeping things interesting and not getting worn out. Thanks for sharing!

This is why I love your ministry. You are open. There are many marvelous Christian leaders whom I admire but they are closed. You open up yourself and show others the way in a style that goes beyond just typical preaching and ministry. This was very helpful. I also am a napper. I drive with the sound off. During my early morning walks, my mind gathers material that I want to write about or think further upon. The email thing later in the day sounds worth trying. And breaking the day into thirds sounds good too. God bless you and your labors. James Doyle Moore

This video serves me well, Pastor Matt. Valuing people over tasks was a very helpful reminder for me. Bi-vocational ministry can make that extra challenging when having to scheduling church and job responsibilities.

My productivity planning is always by the week, not the day. I have a big list and it just matters that it’s all checked or addressed by the end of the week. That way if I’m really energized for a day, I can jump on a lot of tasks, and if I’m crashing, I can ease up. Daily to-dos end in either crossing things off and then wasting time, or getting interrupted, then Feeling like a failure at the end of the day.

Excellent thoughts, Pastor. Life gets busy for everyone, but when we get bogged down with life stuff, but we miss out on loving people just by having real relationships - we're completely missing the point of the Gospel. Love God, love people.

Really appreciate your thoughts, many that I learned to implement over my 50+ years of ministry. As I mentor young men in ministry I emphasize, and this ties in with the last item you mentioned, to never, ever have an affair with the church.

Great insights! Thanks, Pastor Matt. To identify the waste we all have in our lives (beyond just wasted time), I recommend Paul Akers “2 second lean." The audio book is on KZitem and he’s a Biola grad. Guaranteed this will change the way you view work.

Loved this! I needed permission to nap :) Very helpful advice. I would offer a couple of things that have helped me over the years. First, before work, list the top 3-5 things that need to get done this day for work and personal (3-5 for work and a separate 3-5 for personal). Determine to only focus on these 3-5 things first, once completed, spend the day however you like. Don't feel guilty about more time with family or in study. It might not be 3-5, but it's however many are realistic and important. Be sensible, do not overdo it. Second, in the spirit of "drive with the sound off", give yourself blank time between meetings and/or tasks to just step away and let your brain process/make creative suggestions. Trying to squeeze too much into the day without blank time usually results in burn out. Don't schedule back-to-back meetings. If people do, ask that they reschedule or move it. Say no. This is why I like the suggestion of power bursts too. Part of this might be accepting the fact that you might not be able to get as much done during the day. But know that the most important things are getting done, and you are less stressed and happier. Time is made for important things like relaxed, happy Dad with family or contemplative time in study/prayer. Being "rushed" in life or "squeezed" is a path to burn-out and mediocre results. Quality over quantity. Anyway, I appreciate the video. Great stuff!

This kind of work ethic is good and honorable. However, you said that you don't judge those who have hobbies (3:25), but a few moments later you said that you're trying to live for the glory of Jesus and you want to spend all your time doing that. This implies that those who have hobbies must not be living for the glory of Jesus. Hey, maybe I just took it the wrong way because I do have hobbies! Maybe I need to do a refresh on my theology of work (or maybe a video on that topic would be useful to see here on your channel in the future)! Some good productivity tips in there. Thanks for sharing!

This was an excellent video, even for those of us who AREN’T rushing around trying to get things done. I have enjoyed several of your videos lately, and often thought how nice it would be if I lived only closer to where you are so I could visit your congregation. Alas! I am in Idaho! That aside, I wanted to know 1) do you keep a normal weekly or daily routine, and also 2) how have your routine/schedule/priorities changed as your life seasons have moved you into transition? I don’t know if am being clear or not. Maybe I don’t know what I am asking...anyway, thank you for the video.

I am a pastor's wife here in France. Our church is very small (attendance : 10-15 people) so it is more an implant. Our children have left the home ; I have listened to your video and tried to share it with my husband ; he is like you in the sense that he has no other hobby than the Lord ; my question would be : working 50 hours a week means you have a week-end off ; two days with your family ? shared in thirds also ? It has been a difficult issue for us as a family and now as a couple. your videos are precious to me for my own devotions and bible study. thank you so much !

Good Evening Reverent. I hope that you will sea my comment, because I have a question. Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians says that every church father, who comment on John 5 verse 3 agree that it refers to baptismal regeneration. I am in the Afrikaans Protestant church, witch is a reformed Afrikaans church denomination and I have recently discovered that God has called me to be a paster, so I am planning to go to seminary next year, so I do understand and agree with the reformed doctrine of baptism and regeneration. Thanks for your videos and your notes on theology. I've downloaded it. My name is Carel, I am a 20 year old man, is visually impaired and wanting to learn about God all the time. Thanks in advance for your answer.

What do I think of this video? I think this is wonderful topic; this really goes back to eph 5:16 and col 4:5 which both talk about redeeming to time. I just some time ago listened to a John Piper talking about the same thing (kzitem.info/news/bejne/pXyjmolsb3-kgag) I am happy that christian teachers talk about these things and don't leave it completely to the secular people to talk about - it is always nicer to hear about the topic of interest from a brother. I wish I had some useful tips on productivity to share back but this is an area where I am strugling a lot so I guess I just stay at the receiving end...
