It's too late Patrick, I'm already the maniac.
Characters Fought:
Spongebob (Mysteriousity)
A similar case to the Patrick they made that I covered a while ago. The frame data on the normals seems to have been improved, which I appreciate. But the lack of end lag on the bicycle kick and super are sort of annoying. Also I have no idea why but sometimes it feels like he can negate hitstun by dashing.
Spongebob Squarepants (Christian Nunez)
So correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems to be an update to the old Spongebob that Christian Nunez made, which is weird 'cause that one was perfectly fine. But this one is way more of a mess. So many of his specials are just projectiles that behave almost identically, and how easy it is to perform an infinite with this guy is astounding.
Spongebob (You ni)
This one's fucked up, where did I even get this one? I'm guessing it's a spriteswap of... something. And there's a readme that says if anyone makes an edit of this, include the author's name "GTA e Mugen", which isn't included in the DEF file, classy. There's a version of this with Patrick but it felt redundant to include.
Spongebob DELUXE (AngryBirdCooler/CodyTheClubTuberiscool2003)
This basically a roided up version of that old Spongebob character with the ketchup laser. The page on the MUGEN archive says it was inspired by Homer X, which explains the character from Magical Chaser as one of the helpers. It accomplished what it set out to do, and I can't knock it for that.
Patrick Star (TheTimster1998/Viran Kyouki)
This character just cements the fact of how much I hate the frame 1 "turn into a hurtbox and move forward" move. I hated it on Beanfan112's Nicole Watterson 11 years ago and I still hate it now. Anyways, the gameplan is hope the Mung Daal knife toss goes over your head Friday the 13th for NES style and punch him in the mouth.
Squidward (MGNFN)
Admittedly not much to write home about. The super he does feels broken, as in it doesn't function properly. And I can't get any of his specials to come out when I try him out in training mode.
Squidward (Dave, edited by Viran Kyouki)
Now this one's more interesting. I'm pretty sure it's by the same guy who brought us Hektan. And while on their own they seem pretty alright, the presentation is quite charming. My only complaint is that I'm not sure why the Handsome Squidward super is unblockable at point blank. I got an AI patch for Dave's Spongebob chars to try and make the fights more interesting, but it does some wack shit to them. They can now wavedash, and the specials that originally cost meter are basically free now.
Mr. Krabs (Dave)
This character sort of shows why the specials on these guys cost meter. Being able to do that roll move indefinitely gets obnoxious real fast if there isn't a limit put on it.
Plankton (Dave)
Surprisingly tame compared to the other AI patches. A lot of his stuff whiffs unfortunately. And I feel like he drops his guard way more often.
Sandy Cheeks (WG8686)
Sorta like Mysteriousity's Super Brawl characters but with less polish. The way that lasso move is animated looks like she's doing some Axl Low shit and honestly that's pretty funny.
Sandy (Jcina)
I think this is Awaken under a new alias. I'd believe it 'cause this character is a little bit of a mess. Mostly it's 'cause that frisbee toss is an even easier infinite than Christian Nunez' new SB's. I don't know if there are still 18+ compatibility sprites and I'm honestly afraid to check.
Spongebuck (Jcina)
Now some of you are probably wondering exactly who this guy is. This is an ancestor of Spongebob from an obscure TV special that was basically a spaghetti western set in Bikini Bottom. Surprisingly well put together considering the last character. My only complaint is that the Hopalong Squidward helper does way too much damage. You can get a free 50% combo without any meter if he lands.
Slendybob (Dave)
And of course I saved the most interesting for last. I don't know if this if from something or if this is just a creepy and weird bob. He's got a spatula hand like the Hash Slinging Slasher, a nice touch.
