I have my three kids and boys accustomed to putting the toilet seat DOWN ALWAYS. I HATE seeing a bathroom with a toilet seat exposing the water!! I don’t know why people must leave toilets exposed like that. I’ve always felt bathrooms look cleaner and NEATER with the toilets tops DOWN. So… I trained my kids to always put the lid down and this is what they always do when they go to other people’s homes… they leave the lid down, and so do I. It’s cleaner and neater.

And a doctor told me, as soon as you buy and use a new toothbrush, take it out of the package and soak it in a cup of hydrogen peroxide for a few hours. Just covering the brush head part. Before you use it. He said that a brand new toothbrush has alot of germs in it, from being in the package so long I believe. I also soak it in peroxide once a week to keep it clean and less germs.

This sounds logical but bordering on germaphobia and I'm just not sweating the small stuff. I'm 68 yrs old, shared a bathroom sink with 5 sisters, then a husband, and never gave much thought to all these details and have never had any dental or gum problems. I have all my teeth and I'm going with maintaining my immune system, consuming plenty of antimicrobials every day and keeping my toothbrush loose in my medicine cabinet.

Small things add up to big changes over time. Is this a make or break for your health, probably not, but any little thing to preserve our health no matter how small is beneficial. And anything that can deteriorate our health no matter how small is detrimental.

Don't rinse toothbrush in hot water if you don't want the bristles to harden. Keep some little Dixie cups handy & pour about a Tbsp of mouthwash in and dip toothbrush. Or use a little hydrogen peroxide + water in the cup.

TL;DR: - Store your toothbrush out in the air, avoid things that might spread germs, like places where you wash your face or hands, the toilet, near other toothbrushes, inside a cover or cupboard, inside a dark place - Clean your toothbrush every time you brush your teeth, 3 ways to do that is 1) rinsing it with hot water, for 30 seconds to a minute, 2) one teaspoon hydrogen peroxide + a cup of water and stir it up, 3) antibacterial mouthwash - Change your toothbrush every 3 months or every quarter of a year, you can mark your calendar and automatically do it - If you place your toothbrush in a bathroom, close the lid before flushing when you're using the toilet, and place your toothbrush far from the toilet

Oil pulling and water flossing are also great, actually it's the only way to get all the stuff out from between your teeth and prevent cavities.
