Visit W2WParks.com to come out and prove your rig's capabilities!
In this video, an FJ Cruiser on 35" tires and an unknown amount of lift struggles to ascend the obstacle named "Big Mac". On his final attempt, he nearly gives W2W Ambassador Jeff a heart attack. Jeff runs for his life. As soon as the FJ makes the ascent, he quickly finds himself stuck in a pickle of sorts. Ultimately, the FJ uses his winch and a snatch block (technically a recovery ring in this case) to descend safely and without damage to his rig.
The Proving Grounds is where Where2Wheel Parks' journey began. It was built as a prototype to demonstrate the concept of bringing an off-road park to Southeastern Virginia. While we've opened up access to other more sprawling properties in the meantime, the Proving Grounds continues to serve its purpose as a unique venue to learn how to wheel with much less potential for damage than if real boulders or other abrasive obstacles were in your path. It also serves as a place for wheelers to test out their mods, without having to drive 4 hours to the mountains only to discover a major problem and a huge recovery fee. On that note, there are also plenty of opportunities at the Proving Grounds to learn safe vehicle recovery techniques.
Each obstacle presents a different challenge and fun factor. This video will give you a pretty good understanding of what to expect if you're lucky enough to visit the Where2Wheel Proving Grounds.
