Hirtenberger ammo is very accurate. I use it in my scoped PTR out to 700yds. Even though it's old it looks like brand new. Very meticulous packaging if you buy it by bulk.

I still need to put some rounds on paper to check the grouping, but I was happy to hit the first 2 liter at 100 yards. Thanks for stopping by!

I was shooting Hitenberger and federal sierra matchking with my FR and surprisingly the hirt was grouping just a little tighter.

Pretty good video.. have you tried the Perfecta 147 from Wal-Mart? I'm getting pretty consistent 1-1.5 moa with a C308 equipped with a Aimpoint. 2480 fps out of my 18" barrel.

Thank you for the support! I have not tried Perfecta yet. I need to get some rounds on paper and check the grouping with my rifle. It's just so damn fun shooting 2 liter bottles!

Yes, fairly accurate ammo, slightly on a hot side though, took 30 cartridges apart and weighed out the powder, ranges from 44.2gr to 44.6gr, bullet weight is 146.6gr and very uniform weight, full steel core bullet boat-tail with a very thin layer of plated copper over the steel, magnet attaches on it. Wanted to investigate it because it was making my bolt extremely difficult to open without hammering the bolt.

My friend Jim had just bought a PTR 91 and he did not get a chance to shoot it yet so how is the kick?

I have only used Tula .308 and some surplus 7.62 NATO so far but the recoil is not bad at all. My girlfriend likes shooting it so any grown man should be able to handle it just fine. Thanks for stopping by!

Hirtenbergers are Berdan, right? Can you reload them?
@delta-7799
6 жыл бұрын
Some is berdan and some is boxer. It depends on the year of manufacture. Mine is berdan primed. If you fire it through your PTR then you will have the grooves from the fluted chamber. Some people say you can reload with the grooves in the case and others say not too... Reloading a berdan case is generally a lot more difficult so most people don't do it.

Delta-77 not a problem I enjoy your videos I'm gonna shoot my PTR for the first time tomorrow any tips??

That's awesome! All I can say is just have fun. I did not do the recommended "break in" with mine. If you read the manual then you know what I am talking about. I cleaned mine and then took it out and put 40 rounds through it. Then I cleaned it again and put about 60 more through it and so on. The best way to break in a rifle is to shoot the damn thing! I don't know how cleaning it after every round is going to help. The rear sight tool is a good thing to have. You can get one at HKparts.net for $19.95. You can use needle nose pliers to adjust the rear sight but the tool makes it much easier, and you won't scratch the hell out of it. Let me know what you think of the PTR when you get back!

@@delta-7799 might be a bit late to the party but you could get a Bill Springfield trigger and cut the trigger pull to like 4.5 to 5 pounds.

That's a damn good price for brass cased 7.62 ammo! The Hirtenberger was about .58 per round after shipping. It seems like good ammo so far. It is loaded pretty hot. Have you fired any of the ZQI?

I've been getting it for just under $10 a box at Walmart here in Texas. It runs perfectly through my PTR 91. I'd say it's loaded on par with the South African surplus. But I also stocked up on it, so i have plenty on hand.

You should have been using paper targets so we can see where your shot placement was. Shooting bottles does not show crap other than you hit or miss. Your video was unhelpful in this "review".
