Very arrogant attitude which shows his true colors...and I don't mean the color of his skin.

What role does the BLNR fulfill for Hawaii? What constitutes as Historical property in Hawaii and what protection is enforced? What is the history behind the warf? He mentioned private land to obtain permit to work around State? Any research or community meeting with the locals for approval would be good before digging in their backyard.

This guy is woefully ignorant about Kau'u. Taking a back-ho to a beach in Kau'u and expecting there not to be a confrontation is beyond comprehension. I'll give the guy one thing, this guy has balls the size of boulders.

"Absolutely i will take their people, yes" with a smirk about taking business from locals. I hope this guy is gone from the island.

This is a historical land mark and HPD was right to investigate the issue. The administrator of the historic ward should have done more with the complaints from the community in better detail. However, this guy had his permits and backed up his story through the army corp of engineers. I do believe that he probably caused the damage to the site, but there is no evidence or proof of him commiting criminal property damage. Arrogant or not, he has the right to start his small buisness, even if the 4 other people don't like it. He has his paper trail and his ducks in a row. He has the Florida Coast attitude for sure and needs to show more respect for the council. I wish there were more natives that had the ability to start small businesses, but the moral is low due to the loss of generational land and high cost of living which has lead to poverty and less opportunity from within. Fine his ass anyway and make him pay the 100 grand then give him a lei and Aloha!!

It's completely clear, this man has no understanding and/or interest of what Hawaii means to it's original and rightful inhabitants. He just wants to run a business. State should help him find an alternative location. Sounds to me like he was not informed properly about the significance of the historical value of that site. Which means he's not the only one to be blamed.

Wow these guys can build in the most sacred place called "Maunakea" and they go after a pier. DLNR are donkeys! I wonder how much we can fine them once they excavate those sacred lands.
