If you watch dairy farm videos I think Eric at 10th gen dairy farmer is top notch too. It is kind of strange that Eric is putting up new upright silos and moving away from pit silos and Kip wants rid of his upright silos toward pit silos and TMR. Them 2 need to get together! Thanks for the video!

You hit the nail on the head with the dairy farm content explanation Mike. I often read comments on Andy's channel and sometimes your channel where people ask questions that are just so far out in left field and I personally believe it's because they watch some of these bigger crop farming channels, and they think farming is a three month out of the year job. Dairy farming is more than a full-time job, and the amount of respect I have for you guys is high. You guys up there in New York are the real deal that's for sure.

Mike, something that really stood out to me in this part of your series is " buying for the future, not just now ". I really wish I could do it that way, but being a farm employee ( and son ) i honestly have no say in what my father does with buying tractors, trucks , things like that. Yes, I can give suggestions as an employee, but at the end of the day he has the final say.

I watch Andy FFF channel because I like his content. I watch your channel because your size farm was what I was working at years ago when I was doing it. I also watch one in Michigan, and one from Iowa just for different styles. I like the NY farms the best. Just sayin. We had stantion barn till the barn burned down one night. New barn had free stall and 8 station parlor. That is when caused the change to free stall.

I live in Northwest Pennsylvania about the same distance from the New York and Ohio state lines and our area is dying from the dairy industry. My area used to be dotted with dairies, what are left mostly have grown in size, went out of business or switched to grain farming. The same applies with North East Ohio as well. Of course a lot of prime farm land is now subdivisions in many areas of the country. There is a lot of hunting land in the area in my area owned by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and they used to let any of the local farmers use the tillable land. That has pretty much come to an end as it is growing up into brush now in the most of the state which is thousands of acres statewide. We lost a lot of dairy farms in the mid 90s to present. You cant go wrong with a 7710 or 7810 John Deere with the 8.1 liter engine!

Lot's of good dairy You Tubers out there. If you have time and the interest check out Gierok's. They farm the hills of southwest Wisconsin. They have big enough hills that they terrace some of it. He has about as many cows as you do. I especially like their cowbells. I like how he explains his thinking in all his methods. Don't get me wrong Mike I really love all the family farms; probably because I can more closely relate and learn from them. (As a bonus he runs a 7810)

In Q&A 1 you mentioned cattle breeds. I'm reminded when I went through customs in New York coming back from Sweden in 1981. The customs man asked me what I did, I said I worked on a dairy farm in Michigan, He asked what kind of cows, I said Holsteins. He said What, no Friesians?
