If there is a great advantage to a Class B, it is that it can be a daily driver. It is not a larger RV which sits fallow a large portion of the time. Being smaller and more gas efficient, it can be a daily driver. My wife used our Class B to commute to work. I appreciated just traveling in it, not necessarily camping in it. It was always nice to just pull off the road a make a sandwich and cup of coffee. As I got older, I also appreciated the security of knowing that the potty was back there when nature called!

I would ALWAYS rather use my own toilet, and I make essential oils sprays for odors at home, and would do the same in an rv, and also there are black tank additives that I'm told will take care of that odor (Matt's Liquified). I personally want to put garbage bags with a few pine pellets in them over the toilet bowl, and immediately pull them out and find the nearest outside trashcan to discard them, and never use the black tank.

What about the Cross Trail I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT and I was fully convinced I was going to order the new EKKO. Watching your review on the Critter and watching their videos about the power possibilities and having both the big bed and dinette was a win win for me and my family. I understand the bed is a full but we can all (hubby 6’-220lb myself 5’7” 150lbs Boxer 75lbs French Bulldog 20lbs)sleep in a 33x80 in a semi 5days a week 😂 We’re considering because we are sick of our limited time off being locked down in yard work and HOA living. We want to lease our home and get out as far as we can and enjoy our 34hour reset instead of being tied down with chores.

Questions: Can you put toilet paper in those canisters some smaller RV toilets use instead of a black tank? Are you concerned about how many eggs y’all consume while RVing? Hillary, do you not cook at home either? How old are your kids and do they live in your home state? Thanks, I’m really enjoying your channel. My husband and I have camped since our kids were small. We recently sold our last one, a 5th wheel, and miss camping a lot. If my husband were healthier, I would consider a van at this stage of our lives.

How does the current interest rate on loans compare to when you bought? Would the current rate have made the buying decision a no today? Im thinking that if a person can use the van as a second car, you could then mentally cut the cost of ownership in half. Being that new cars are 50k. Bottom line the experiences are PRICELESS!!! 😊
@Vancaskeys
4 ай бұрын
We are not sure what the current interest rate on loans would be, but we are assuming at least 8%. It's not a deal breaker if we can put a big chunk down on it. And you are right. We sold one of our cars to buy the van to help with the cost and use it as a second vehicle.

@Erica_Brenda

I believe the $116,000 figure does not accurately reflect the total cost. It should account for the numerous expenses incurred due to the vehicle's deficiencies. These additional costs should be included in the price since they were supposed to be addressed by Thor before the transfer of ownership.

You don't want an Ekko. Kind of cute, but not really configured well. Especially now that it's on a Mercedes chassis, it's expensive and when something breaks, you'll be lucky if you can even get the parts. Now, Winnebago does have some nice units. Do a little more exploring there and get something on a Ford chassis. Or. You could always get a small Class C. Question for you -- why do you look at rigs with those extra passenger seats? You can get something with better dining options. Floor plan is key. Go to the Winnebago site, pull up their Class Bs or Cs, and look at them by floor plan. Happy shopping! 😊

Based on $116k for the van at 6% interest and 10% down, it looks like you borrowed around $104k. Assuming a 20 year loan and a monthly payment of around $750, you will be paying almost $75 in interest (almost $191k for Mr. Lemon). You said you paid more per month, so I'm sure I'm off a bit, but still... that's a lot for a Thor that has given you so many problems. What are the chances you can sell it off and purchase something else a little more reliable? Yes, I know it would cost more, but would that not be better considering return on investment?

@@Vancaskeys Have you had time or opportunity to see either an AeonRV or an Embassy? The Aeon is a Class B plus (aka more stylish Class C), while Embassy makes controlled custom Class B's. They are having a meetup in Elkhart Indiana June 7th and 8th (okay, technically at Eby's Pine Campground in Bristol Indiana) and they should have one there. I think you may have learned the money does not buy peace of mind when you Spend it. I bought a old 2005 with very low miles, spent $20K in upgrades (over 10 years). Buy reliable, A Ford or Chevy , no Mercedes. They tend to change to many things every year, and they can't even fix their own stuff (from experience). I still love my 40' Monaco, towing a 4WD Colorado, Leer bed cap gives me a garage for electric bikes, tons of storage. In ten years I've had one major breakdown, an alternator locked up, on a trip, on New Years Eve! No fun, but no disaster either. Thanks for the great videos and travels, don't care much for the van videos.

I love watching your videos and you’ve given my husband & I great ideas & tips! We have a Ford Sprinter AWD Coachman Beyond and we really like it. We went with the Ford because we’ve travelled to places in US that would probably not be able to service a Mercedes, so that is something to keep in mind for your next purchase! Also, if you want to travel across Canada, you might want to avoid the prairies because it could be boring (can you say wheat fields?). I’m from Canada and when we do the cross country tour of Canada, we will probably travel through the US and avoid Manitoba & Saskatchewan! Sorry to my fellow Prairies peeps! 😮

I am so happy for you guys that your HOA allows Mr. Lemon. Not my HOA. So I have had to wait and figure out what to get that will fit in my pseudo one car garage (town house). Aliner ranger/scout 13' long. I am close to retiring but can not move yet. You have done so much work to Mr. Lemon that he just may not be a lemon anymore. While you are still weekend warriors He should be enough. Start a future fund so that when retirement comes you can find what's new and updated and go from there. Still do reviews I love your style. You are tall and I am short so I know I will fit if you guys can fit. 😊

One thing is for certain though, my next one won't be a Thor and it won't be new. I have been looking for and RV every day and the new ones are pretty much crap. So, I will buy a used one. I think just about any of them built before 2020 is going to be alright to buy.

So let's just cut to the chase. You both like the adventure abilities of the B. (Yes Bob I Know 4x4 recover abilities and pal I'm all in) But the limited space (for you tall folks) can be challenging. Remember the bigger rig, can possibly go to that spot but a lot more prep and work. The trouble I see is you can get more physical space with a change (to a bigger rig) but your personal space is going to decline. You built this channel and thanks.

A fun episode! We just got back from a two week trip up to Bryce and Zion - with a side trip to Las Vegas to take care of a few warranty things on our Pocket. Not insignificant ones either. Not Mr. Lemon quality but the door locks stopped working in January! We got kicked around between Winnebago and RAM and finally drove it down to the dealer where we bought it so they could look at it and tell Winnebago that they needed to authorize RAM to repair it. One of the inconveniences of buying out of state! But at least it's only a 2 day drive and my sister lives there so it's a good excuse to go visit. So we were away for two weeks and had three videos to catch up with when we got back. Great fun! And it looks like you went back to Vancaskeys - good choice.

Great Content!!!! Thanks for always sharing authentically and humorously. I have a quick question. Which is worse Thor brand or ProMaster brand? That is, which has had more problems for you? Thanks, in advance, for your guidance.

Thank you! We would say Thor. We have had only one issue with the Promaster itself (that I can remember) . The alternator went out, but they replaced it.
