I've spent countless hours trying to understand this concept from book readings, PowerPoint lectures, and even a few in-person review sessions held at my school. However, I didn't grasp this concept until today with your video. Thank you SO much, Professor!! I have an exam this week and feel that much more prepared because of your videos.

This was a great explanation. I'm taking biochemistry and had trouble conceptualizing how you could get 4 protons from 2 electrons. The way you've drawn the process clearly shows how the second electron in each transfer is recycled back in. I hope to find time to look through other videos. At the very least I'll send a link to other struggling students.

Thank You for this in- depht ecplanation of the TWO ubiquinone cycles with regeneration of ubiquinone and transport of two additional H+ protons into the inter- membrane space. Most presentations ignore this double pathway so that the student remains incapable of understanding the whole process. One electron goes to cytochrome oxydase which delivers it to complex III a second electron is used to regenerate ubiquinone by reducing ubiquinol to ubiquinone and at the same time pumping a second H+ proton from the matrix to the intermembrane space of the mitochondrion. As our ancients sad BIS REPETITA PLACENT !
