I totally agree with you about the way to learn English . As a native speaker of Chinese , I just think too much before I spit it out in my mother tounge .But when I speak English , I liberate myselfe from past cocoon imposed by my mother language . I learn English to be myself ! It is funny and irony. I live in mainland of China ,and right on the jounrney to rediscover my culture and myself.

I didn’t come to the US until I was in my 20’s. I totally agree about the importance of consuming content. For example, if you don’t know anything about football, how do you participate in a conversation about football? Internet wasn’t readily available for general public when I came. I read newspaper everyday and watched lots of TV’s.

Yes, Culture is soooo important lol but I really do not like American mainstream culture (I can not enjoy Netflix show TAT) lol 1. prioritizing the vocabularies, relying on the context. 2. Be patient, look for dictionary and think about the word choice, be patient.

Could you kindly elaborate on how school was once holding you back in terms of learning English? Anyone like you who is engaged in teaching English as a second language, from my perspective, is kind of creating an environment that is similar to a classroom setting. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, and learning a language at school or working with a teacher or tutor doesn't necessarily go against strategies such as immersion. Learning a second language can be extraordinarily challenging, requiring more efforts on the learners' part. More often than not, it is the high expectations placed on school teaching that lead to disappointment, resentment and anxiety.

Because public schools in China, as least back when I was little, were only focused in reading & grammer, and a bit of listening but in a very mechanical way. Natually, it kills one's initial interests when required to do grammer drills every day without any occasion to use or enjoy the language. English in school is considered as a subject not a real language.

@@aspirin1284 As long as there are language requirements from universities where courses are conducted in English, it's probably unavoidable for many applicants who speak English as their second language to improve their language proficiency to meet the requirements by taking classes and listening to an English teacher's lectures. For the majority of language learners, a classroom setting is essential as language learning requires a significant amount of patience. Without regulation and guidance from teachers, it's often impossible for learners to achieve a certain level of proficiency. It is not that there's anything inherently wrong with a classroom setting; rather, it's about utilizing effective strategies, investing enough time, and gaining sufficient exposure to the language. It's unrealistic for many to rely solely on themselves to achieve the required proficiency. While I understand that some have become frustrated and disappointed with their school experiences and teachers, I believe that taking a sophisticated attitude and viewing school and teachers positively can lead to greater success in language learning. That being said, I agree there's always room for improvement when it comes to teaching English in a classroom setting.
Her English is great mate , as a second language learner ,if you truly love learning English , You wouldn’t be bored with this vide . She made lots of effort to make this video which is quite inspiring for people especially those who are eager to learn English well !

表达会唔够地道,因为有时语言表达同思维逻辑有关,简单举个例子,,递野备人,英文习惯here you go.你中文转英文,分分钟变give you
