Great video! I had about 6 very small Pickling Cucumbers in the fridge that I didn't want to can for pickles as it's not enough. Followed your recipe and added some slices of a small zucchini to fill the quart jar. We, southern Mass, are in severe drought so our harvests are minimal. The jar looks amazing. We will give it a try in a few days for lunch 😋

This was an interesting change, Rick. I made your salsa recipe tonite 🥰 2 batches! Your tastes are far more conservative than mine, so I threw in a handful of cilantro to each. One mild for the family; the other spiced up w/ chili de arbol for me. Not into canning yet, so into the freezer they went 😁
@StoneyAcresGardening

Yeah we are fairly conservative when it comes to salsa. We are much for really spicy we just like the tomato and onion flavor.

Thanks! We are not set up to can so we would love to use our extra cukes like this! Question: what percent is the white distilled vinegar you used? Thanks!
@StoneyAcresGardening
2 жыл бұрын
it is a 5% vinegar. But remember the vinegar is just for flavor, we don't can or ferment these, it's just more of a marinade than anything else.

Pretty close to what I do. I use the same for canned or fridge pickles. 3 cups water, 2 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup kosher salt. I always spear cut mine. Easy to handle and seems to make pickles in about 2 days because of the surface area.

Hi, I’m wondering if you can reuse the brine from the pickles to make a new batch or should I just make new brine every time? Thanks!
@StoneyAcresGardening
2 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert on all things pickles, but I would think no. most of the flavor from the salt and vinegar will soak into the pickles and it wouldn't be as strong with a second batch.
@AlisonV362

Can i freeze these to make them freezer pickles?

No I don't think so. Freezing them would destroy the texture of the cucumbers.
